It’s the racism and bigotry and bullying in nursing for me that runs me off.I make 50 a hour which like 25 today and I’m still not happy

you are wise to adjust it to inflation. $50/hr is really $25/hr today. For the trouble nurses go through the pay should be at least $200/hr and more

It was the lack of respect. My first year got yelled at by a doctor at change of shift ( I was coming on, had no idea what was even going on yet), and was yelled at by my preceptor on my second day because I helped a patient to the bathroom before giving insulin ( insulin wasn't due yet, pt was fine, vitals and all). It was a culture shock to me coming from a business office to the hospital. The unprofessional way they talk to each other. It wasn't worth the money to me. I didn't leave nursing fully, I just left the bedside and work from home now. So you don't have to leave completely, but just try to find a place you are respected, at least!

I have NPs giving me ventilator orders and they don't even understand how the different modes work! And don't want to be educated on ANYTHING. I think a lot of us feel like this. My two big reasons for wanting to leave both are about safety. I worry I'm going to be harmed either not purposefully by a patient but just by the nature of them being very large and big and there not being proper equipment/staff to help them or purposefully experience a violent patient/family member in which case the hospital doesnt do much to protect us. There are so many things I can deal with in this field but my health and safety have to come first if I'm gonna keep doing this.

Try using some PTO and taking care of yourself. It seems you’re experiencing symptoms of burnout. Bedside is hard on mental health from all the politics and stress. On another note, advancing to your BSN can give you options outside of bedside or even help you transition to another career in healthcare.

I feel lost as a nurse. I'm almost at a year. I fought hard to get my degree and landed a job. I was so hopeful. Now I'm part time and burned out and don't even know my next move. Saw an internal WFH Nurse Triage and was overshadowed by nurses with more experience. Being a "new grad" just sucks. No one even takes a second look at you without 2 years experience outside of certain areas. *sigh*

I stated a job at a outpatient clinic about 9 months ago.. a very well known establishment… I was overwhelmed.. burnt out.. dealing with toxic co workers .. to the point where I was having anxiety, depression and placed on anxiety meds.. I had bad dreams almost every night and was all around depressed! I prayed about it and finally made the decision to quit! I decided welp.. I don’t have to take this! Yes, great benefits and all but my mental health is more important! Been home a month now.. back to school and just working on getting per diem position for like 3 days a week! I am so much happier and have my peace of mind back! I am currently taking my prerequisites but can’t help but wonder if I should really continue with nursing or find something else to do. I am 46.. may be too late to start over 🤷🏽‍♀️

I'm not sure if you said in the video you get $70 an hour at the Hospital. But if you looking for a different job that pays around 10k a month then you should apply to director jobs at the nursing homes or facilities. Or even get into HR director and they'll just like you because you already have your nursing license. Also maybe getting your personal care administrator license. They also pay nice. It's all about selling yourself with that nursing license.

I really thought this is where I wanted to start out as but now I’m starting to feel like I don’t want to work in LTC. Between the way things run nowadays and how unprofessional and the lack of compassion with CNAs who are just there to collect a check…I’m considering being a school nurse or work in Peds or doing a 1:1 LPN home health job.
