No , it's never been closed because Sam is now on good terms with Marvel who most likely are part of the deal since mcu spiderman started , and Tobey Maguire recently returned for nwh and has clearly said he'd love to do more spiderman stuff after it because it was such a fun experience .

It's not really overhated overall but by specific people surely. These guys Tobey , Andrew , Tom , Willem are great guys who really put life in it with their own input on how to make things meaningful . And i don't see how MoM is relevant here , it had pretty awesome visuals which is the only fair thing to take away from it while judging his current ability for a spiderman movie , he grew up with spiderman not Dr. Strange .

No , 3 wasn't as great as previous ones but it's still a fine movie with again not as polished but still strong story and themes , it ends pretty fine staying loyal to them and works well as that movie's ending , now we just need MJ and Peter's relationship to get fixed in the final one to properly end the story and with a wholesome ending too . Will be great to have the final movie as great as the ones before the 3rd while ending the story .

I don't see this as a good argument, reasoning this way many franchises should have ceased to exist, Raimi can adapt to modern themes and still today many people prefer his films. As long as there is an audience, there is success for a franchise.

@Mary-bj5un you can see it as a bad argument. But that shows me that you don't understand what those films were like. They were mid-2000s superhero films, filled cheesy dialogue, and moments. You could adapt them, but they would be a hollow version of the spider man films that people enjoyed from that era.

Come on he is on his way to become the classic we like now . But for sure Raimi SM-4 is the priority give us the proper ending with Peter and MJ marrying in the end after a final adventure where Peter learns to push for a good Peter Parker life by himself without needing to be motivated by MJ or Aunt May this time .

Even you writing back and saying that it’s what some part of the audiences wants, and with it being something that dropped over 15years ago, it is for nostalgia. Also, the Marvel Spider-Man 4 will be continuing a Peter as he gets older and moving on with life. How is that not what we want? A Peter dealing with life as he gets older and we as fans don’t know what will happen because it left off on an unexpected ending that even the comics haven’t dared to do. Instead of a nostalgia trip with a Raimi Spider-Man 4 where we get that old cast, who has old af now, and get a story that isn’t going to be the exact Spider-Man 4 Raimi would have wanted because time has passed. That’s all it will be, a nostalgia trip and possibly a failed one if you’re being realistic with the cast and story that they could tell. No, smart move is to look forward to the new marvel Spider-Man 4 and have Raimi Direct that.

Taking a franchise that died 50 years ago with actors who have passed away, recreating them in CGI and making a film out of it, yes, this can be negative nostalgia. Resuming a story interrupted 17 years ago with actors who still exist and are in their 40s (I'm talking about Tobey and Kirsten) to make one last sequel homage to Raimi's Spider-Man would just be making a good film. Your general argument about nostalgia fails to separate "nostalgia for beautiful things" from "nostalgia just because it's in the past." Here we are talking about good films and a possible good fourth chapter for Raimi, nothing could be simpler. I realized that often people who don't want these films to be made cling to nostalgia as an excuse to justify why these shouldn't be made, but without giving a valid reason. Maybe because they prefer the current Spider-Man and are afraid that another could overshadow him, or maybe because they actually never liked Raimi's Spider-Man that much. One does not exclude the other (especially if Tobey is 20 years older than Tom), we are talking about a unique project that the director himself has dreamed of making since 2009, you see the risks you are talking about by putting yourself in Sony's shoes, the public just wants to see a good film and people who will buy the tickets are more than enough to make a success, so there's no point in opposing them. If somebody make a sequel to a franchise that closed 30 years ago that I'm not interested in, I wouldn't be here attacking the fans by saying that nostalgia is bad, I would just hoping to see a good movie! We are talking about cinema, a hobby, entertainment, I don't give state issues. Take it easy. A different story with a mature Spider-Man? We want it.

@@Mary-bj5un No bud. I loved Raimi’s original Trilogy, even Spider-Man 3 for all its flaws. They were amazing to have, at the time. Would it be good to see a 4? Yea, but it had its time, and if the power at be decide to do another Raimi/Tobey Spiderman, it would just be for nostalgia sake. Nothing more, because they know some people will come to see it, just like No Way Home, but unlike No way, it will just be all nostalgia, no real substance/meaning(and it won’t have any meaning, it’s just to give people a moment). Tobey got his moment, just like Andrew in No Way, let it just be done, let’s just move forward, accept things will never happen, and stop looking back.

Tobey had his moment, just as Andrew had it and Tom has it now, but this doesn't put a tombstone on the predecessors just because at the moment there is a main Spider-Man, I think the beauty of cinema is precisely to choose. A fourth (and probably last) chapter by Raimi will obviously not tell what he would have done in 2011, but a different story of a middle-aged Peter with a family who faces life as a superhero from a completely different point of view, a vision of Spidey never seen before that it would be decidedly innovative as a film, absolutely not a film of pure nostalgia, the exact opposite. However, I love Raimi in all his films, if he were to direct Holland's new films I would be so happy, Sam+Spider-Man is just a spectacular combination. ❤

No man, no... the nostalgia used in cases like these is the excuse you use when you don't want a project to come out, Raimi films are simply beautiful for many people, but tastes are subjective and if you don't like those films you can't make your opinion objective.
