If Netero wasn't around, Gon might have just pimp-slapped the King instead of Pitou

I agree.. Most people see him as a villain or an anti - hero but he is just a guy who likes to fuck around and get some entertainment for himself usually in the form of battles but less usually through excitement and unpredictability of adventure or just to challenge himself. He joined hunter exam cuz he was bored af and wanted to challenge himself to get the license. He joined heavens arena because he was bored af and wanted to go against kastro to see how much he has improved over his last defeat by his hands and to challenge himself. During the fight, hisoka clearly analysed that even though he gave him quite some time to grow (he spared him in the first place because he saw potential in him as well), he was a complete waste of time. Just to challenge himself he used all those theatrics and mind manipulation to beat him even though he could have ended the fight much sooner. He went up against gon because he saw potential in him and although he was vastly superior to gon at that point, he went on with the fight because it was entertaining and gon did manage to surprise him a few times. He joined the troop and helped kurapika in order to get a chance for a juicy fight against chrollo. He went to greed island to find nen exorcist to get his juicy fight against chrollo and other reason is he was bored af and wanted some adventure. He joined gon on his dodgeball match because he had already found the exorcist and was bored af and wanted to have some fun. We havent seen much of him after that arc but clearly it seems he is quite powerful and just wants to spice up his life.

That's the fundamental ideology of HxH tho: there is no rhyme or reason to any of the happenings. It's really really unguided in terms of 'ultimate' goal unlike more conventional shonen series (Gon looking for his father is the main catalyst but most of the time isn't the main focus). Which could be a blessing or a curse as the story could morph into anything or not take shape at all. Take Dragonball, or One Piece, or Haikyuu, they all clearly have a central goal and regardless of how the story tangents from arc to arc, character conflict and story is centered around achieving that goal. As such, the antagonists are often directly opposed and are clearly defined. Hisoka on the other hand, is actually Chaotic Neutral mostly. He does what he wants and doesn't side with any particular ideology.

I completely agree. I really dislike black and white characters. The good guy blindly wants to save everyone and the bad guy hates the world because of some trauma. Though I think in general Togashi avoids this with his characters very well I think Hisoka is the best example. He`s neither good nor evil, just amoral.

In my defense I hate watching long shows and this is gonna be a long one. One Piece for example has 861 episodes as I'm typing this aka 14 days of time. You can calculate if you don't believe me and that shit is still ongoing. That's 14 days of my life I'll never get back because I focused on a story that might have an ending I won't be satisfied with or worse despise. Aka I'm not going near that shit. HxH on the other hand is 2 days long so it's not as hardcore as OP. But my point still stands. I'll never watch any anime that goes over 30 episodes because most of them have terrible pacing and absurd amount of fillers whether you notice it's a filler or not. A plot within a plot can be a filler. Such as an unnecessary obstacle a hero has to go through in 100th episode just so he can waste 20 more episodes of time to get back on track with the actual plot. I could watch an anime that has 12-25 episodes with a better conslusion and plot than OP or HxH. *Berserk* is a rare gem. Reading the manga will probably take you 3-4 days. But that manga has the type of art you can see in an art museum and a story of a book your English teacher is preaching about. It changed my life to put it bluntly. Something 99% of anime and manga don't offer. This is is why anime is a *mistake* even though I am an anime fan myself. Otaku community gets so sucked into that world that they forget to actually live their life. My MAL states I've completed 92 anime (bear in mind there are people who completed 300+), not episodes but anime. At one point I felt proud for whatever reason, but now I realize it says I wasted 31 days of my life. That's a whole month of my life and I only remember 30/92. That's half of One Piece. I was never a big fan of movies or tv shows, but when I discovered anime at the age of 13 it was basically all I did in my life. I kept watching anime. Not because I heard they have masterpiece stories, but because they were simply - anime. I could've spent that time with my mother who was alone and lonely in the living room while I binged that crap. This might seem ridiculous to a teenager but once you grow up and realize things, you'll feel like crap. Even this comment that took me 15 minutes might seem like a waste of my time but I think of is as therapy therefore it's positive. I get to let shit out of my system and I get to *maybe* shed some light on someone who takes 3 minutes to read this.

Have you read the manga? The Royal guards were on a whole different level. Hisoka is around the power level of Feitan, Razor, Illumi, Kite etc. and weaker than Chrollo, Silva, Zeno etc. who in turn are weaker than the royal guards, Netero and finally Meruem

Bisky is put above chrollo and hisoka in every aspect other than talent, shes 57 so of course shes a monster, Chrollo is strong and have a lot of abilities than can help face any situation but hes not that much stronger than Hisoka, based on Hisoka rating, Illumi was a 95, if Hisoka is a 100 then Chrollo is a 105 to 110 max and bisky is probably a 120, Netero a 150. Hisoka has a 5/5 in talent and Chrollo a 4/5, long term Hisoka has more room for growth based on Togashi own stats

You can never predict what Chrollo is going to do because he can get new abilities all the time. Even without setting i still think Chrollo would win high-mid difficulty (with setting was easy difficulty). Like Chrollo said he wanted to have 100% chance of winning and he was more focused in style than winning since he knew Hisoka had no chance. Even after Hisoka power up i doubt he has a chance against Chrollo right now because Chrollo's strategies can be limitless and he know's Hisoka's power too well. Maybe in the future if Hisoka keeps getting stronger he will have a chance but for that he has to be much stronger than Chrollo since the only way he has to win is with higher speed and more brute strenght.

Hisoka's hatsu isn't a good hatsu. Hisoka is just so genius and creative he made it into something amazing. Not a lot of people would be able to innovate something hisoka does out of bungee gum. The most regular people would do is throw things and reflect things, not restart their heart or set up attacks way ahead of time based on how their opponents move

I mean, you have Meruem, who heckin murders a little child, and I was crying for him at the end of the Chimera Ant arc. And Killua's probably killed(ha) a bunch of people, and he's best boy. That's part of why HxH is epic.

My definition of a hero is someone who strives to to good things, meaning they have good intentions. Neither Hisoka or Meruem falls into this category. Hisoka indeed helps out but only so that it will be more fun to kill them later. Killua aslo kills people but not for fun, there is always a purpose. He has good intentions and is therefore more of a hero than Hisoka.

I, for one, have to agree with you to some point. Orochimaru was sorely underrated by both fanbase and author. He was slimy, creepy, and just generally a cockroach, but he had the capacity to be seriously manipulative and dangerous. I was upset by how he was killed just because it was anticlimactic when compared to, say, Deidara. It was quiet... and he deserved so much more. For villains, Orochimaru is most likely one of my favorites (alongside Sasori).

Chrollo literally refused to fight hisoka without preparing, and in their fight chrollo got help from troupe members, I think hisoka and chrollo are definitely on the same level, slap you don’t need to kill a member to join I think you need just to beat them in a fight, but it not too sure on that one

Answering your question why I dislike kaguya is because Naruto was initially about hard work and not giving up Naruto(2002) was about these principles and even Shippuden (upto Pain arc because he learned sage art and not inherited it because he is a incarnation of a god) but in the fourth shinobi war arc and kaguya arc all the things got out of hand Had kishimoto made madara final villlain and naruto and sasuke defeating him would have been a better ending at least in my opinion

yeah, i was gonna say... hisoka isn't just mind games. the anime never showed how strong he was, and the only taste you got in show was some visuals before he threw the card at the spiders' leader. i mean, he's done some stuff that left him wounded, but he hadn't actually tap into his most powerful stuff. he was just staying casual without worrying about injury.

Alfimie plus they were in a place with loads of spectators so it was easy for chrollo to use that to his advantage if they were in a place similar to the place where kurapika left them right when chrollo's nen got taken away that's a whole different fight (not saying hisoka would still win, not saying he will lose either)

I prefer the legend type villian because when you finally see them in action it gonna be lit and worth the wait but if u watch the villian develop with the main character the finally battle will be good but compare to a build up villian...the final act will be lackluster but this all depends on presentation

The fact that the protagonist and the main antagonist of the series have history will make the final clash truly a memorable one

Camille Bouvet he is actually stronger fisically than Chrollo, he is more dangerous in close distance, fighting against Hisoka or Killua is really complicated, Killua can stun you and Hisoka will glue you even if you block them, they both can create an opening and both can kill you in a blink, an skill such as the one from Morel (who fought against the three royal guards) is nothing against them

Yeah talking about pure strenght in Hxh isnt really usefull imo. Hxh fight are much more than simply fastest and strongest wins. Its just as much about strategy and the ability to overcome the opponents strengh and weaknesses aswell as be able to catch the enemy offguard. Even the superoverpowered Meruem who pretty much is the exeption otherwise, fell to a poisonbomb.

hisoka's quirk is weak, it just has utility, and hisoka is also extremely physically strong

I would say Youpi is the strongest one- power wise, pouf emmm i still didnt rlly understand his character , and pitou was just a support, she never was a fighter, youpi however left me with a feeling of fear of how overpowered he became towards the end- he was a bit under Netero, so if not for the bomb Youpi would've been a big fear, only a special nen power could help like - if someone touches him , his body will start to turn into ash or smth

Pouf was too aggravating dude. I was exhilarated when he died...

So much of the fandom hates Pouf and forgets Youpi. It's quite annoying. I'll admit I disliked Pouf the first time through watching, but he's one of my favourite characters now. And Youpi is a better character to me now that I've rewatched the show.

In her second episode she singlehandedly killed Kite, who had previously one-shot a whole division of Chimera Ants with his scythe- a bout during which she took off his arm in one swipe. She seems just as durable as the other Royal Guards(surviving what was supposed to be a fatal blow from Meruem with just some scratches as they all did), she's perfectly capable of killing high-level Hunters, and her speed and agility is a few good leaps and bounds- literally- above Youpi's. She likely isn't as physically strong as he and can't fly like the other two, but the only reason Pitou was relegated to support was her hatsu. She was as much a fighter as the other two- probably moreso than Pouf, at least.

You seem to be forgetting Lex Luthor. Who is the most persistent and frightening villain Superman faces off against. Oh, and also the only one with no superpowers. So that kind of further reinforces this point being true for comics as much as it is for anime. Lex Luthor and The Joker are probably the most terrifying villains in the main DC Comics lineup, and they're both just humans with human limitations and abilities. Lex is really smart, but not "beyond human" levels of smart. Joker is just so crazy that it's practically a superpower in its own right.

I am not a fan of Superman, so I just forgot about him. Of course, Lex is also smart, badass and good character without superpowers.

PArt of it might actually be more that the powers come first in the designs. The idea becomes more about the abilities than about the person using them. That leads to a dull character, and in turn that makes the villain less menacing. They have to resort to raw power to make the threat work which is too bad because there are a lot of cases in which you should be less afraid of what the power is than how the person is able to wield it. One of the reasons I love Worm so much.

Spider Man is NOT OP at all. In Marvel universe he is pretty low tier even among other heroes. Probably, why he is a great character.

NOVA Akuma, I dont think, that we should look at cross-over potential of characters or how strong they are compared to normal humans. Strong and Overpowered are not same things. I think, that overpowered means exactly "being much stronger, than most other characters of the SAME universe". Because otherwise everyone are overpowered compared to someone else from other comics/manga/movies/games. For example, captains from Bleach are really fucking strong compared to normal humans or many other anime characters, but they are not OP. Aizen is weak compared to DBZ characters or Superman, but he stomps everybody in his universe, so he is OP. Also, Thanos even without infinity stones still defeated Avengers, so I would say he is OP, while Spider-man can defeat barely anybody from his own team, so I wouldnt call him OP, despite how powerful he would be in other universes.

Riri Pari let's be even more honest here, deku and todoroki together should have easily overpowered stain because of their OP abilities. But for story reasons stain was able to keep up even though his powers had nothing to do with it. Infact his powers were lick blood to paralyze foe for a few moments whereas deku is literally Super speed & Super strength and todoroki is controlling fire and ice. Did we forget how devastating todoroki alone can be?..
