Why white spray painting over image before transferring onto wood, fabric, glass or whatever you transfer images onto.

I haven't done an image transfer for a while and the last time I did was with Tom Palisade's paper. A real nightmare to work with for me, but undaunted, I was able to do some nice image transfers on wood. However, seemingly, unlike you and Tom I always made the transfers ~11 X 14. I would do the image in Photoshop, cut it in half, in PS, and print it on two sheets of coated paper. Yes, there was a barely discernable seam, but it could be colored in. Do you ever do large prints yourself? All I see you do are small projects in your demos. I would appreciate your thoughts on larger projects. I really see the wisdom of using paint, etc. on the backside of the image. Wish I had prior knowledge of that before. My pictures would have been much brighter. I look forward to using your "normal printer paper" vs. Tom's. Certainly, it will be a treat.

Hey Max. No, I never do large image transfers using my paper. The only large image transfers I do are using t-shirt transfer paper where you use a Heat Press to press it onto shirts. Other than that, I do small images, little accents on small projects, tiles or small wood pieces for video demos. I used to use Tom's paper also, but he stopped selling it. It worked fine for me, except it would jam in my printer unless I put tape on the edge first. Fortunately I don't have to do that with my 'regular paper' transfer paper. :-)

Question. You sprayed the whole image white. Why didn't it ruin the whole image. Why did the white only transfer in the letters and not transfer across the whole image. ?

Keep in mind 'where' that white paint is in relation to the image. On the transfer paper, the white paint is ON TOP of the image. It's completely covered. But when you turn the paper over to glue it to something, now where is that white paint? It's UNDER the image. The image itself is ON TOP now. And since most laser printers do not print white (no white toner), what you see is white in the image is actually the white paper that it is printed on. So since the white areas actually have no printing at all, those are the areas where the background (the surface you are transferring to) will show through. And since now we have white paint as the background (under) the image, that white paint shows through where you had white color in your image.

Love you videos and I recently bought some of your Quick Transfer Paper. My question is did you make a video and use CD label paper to transfer an image? I know I have seen a video using CD label paper and I thought it was your video.
