Rix did you say if is not completely dry, it could end up with spots? I did a few pictures on the 4” wood, let them dry and ended up with small pin hole size spots on most of the finished product. One I sprayed with coating spray (Kamari). I adjusted it to fit the wood.But spots and not a good picture on both. What ya think?
@imagetransferswithrix4 күн бұрын
Do you see parts of your image left on the transfer paper that matches those dots you have on the wood? If so, then those spots were NOT glued down. Either missing glue, poor contact, or glue not dry in those areas. As I always say, IF ANY PART OF THE IMAGE HAS NOT TRANSFERRED AND YOU CAN SEE IT STILL ON THE PAPER WHEN PEELED OFF, then it was not glued down. Because you will NOT be able to peel up the image if glued on the wood. Impossible.

Is it possible to use ModPodge instead of the spray starch, or are there any alternatives?
@imagetransferswithrix4 күн бұрын
The starch is to allow you to print using an Inkjet printer. ModPodge won't work. You can use it to glue with, as I often do, but not to use for inkjet printing.

You can order everything online these days. Brayers are common. The 'plastic shield' is just a piece of plastic I found laying around. And yes, I have videos on this channel demonstrating it on canvas.

Hi I am not having a lot of success in peeling off the paper. I usually have to go through the rubbing process. The result is not too bad but it is very time consuming. I have a heat press. Is it possible to use the heat press on the wood with Liquitex and your transfer paper and if so how many minutes and at what temperature.
@imagetransferswithrix4 күн бұрын
The paper comes with instructions on how to successfully use the paper. I must assume you didn't read it, because the first two sentences states "If you have any issues, please email me at [email protected]. Please do not ask your questions or post any issues you may have on the demonstration videos on KZfaq."

Sure. But it would be ugly. It will look like you just glued a picture printed on photo paper onto canvas rather than having the IMAGE ONLY 'printed' onto the canvas which looks 3249.6% better. Just saying.

The KZfaq algorithms have introduced me to these transfers. Swear they are in cahoots with Amazon. Question is - why all the fuss about hacking sublimation on heat transfer vinyl since this sure looks a lot simpler and less expensive? Does one method hold up better over time or some other reason? And now I need to learn about pigment inks for my Epson. Didn't realize there was a choice over the default inkjet ink. Sure appreciate the detail and best advice you put into your videos.
@imagetransferswithrix2 ай бұрын
Thanks Lance. When I learned that you can replace your dye ink with pigment (at least with my Epson printers), I was all over it. I just think Pigment is better, but that's just me. As a disclaimer, I have zero experience in sublimation and don't want to invest in it unless there is something I want to do that requires it. Haven't found myself there.

Brayer (the rubber roller) You may also want to get a few sponge brushes.

@imagetransferswithrix3 ай бұрын
When I did this original piece a few years ago, it was done with Laser. My transfer paper is designed to be used with laser printing (as-is). However, recent experimenting led to discover that with a couple of extra steps, even inkjet printing can now be done. Watch my latest videos to see this.

Very impressive!!! Does the color also stay in the inkjet printed shirts after washing? Does your inkjet printer use dye inks or pigment ink?
@imagetransferswithrix3 ай бұрын
Yes, the colors remain after several washes from inkjet and laser transfers. My inkjet uses pigment ink, although I would 'suspect' dye inks will fair similarly (although I have not tested this).

Why do people use this rather than sublimation? Since the HP Color LaserJet Pro M254dw reached its end-of-service life (EOSL) in April 2021 [HP End of service life (EOSL) April 2021] is there a newer recommendation?
@imagetransferswithrix3 ай бұрын
Not sure what the EOSL of any printer has to do with this. You just use ANY laser printer. Most people don't want to buy sublimation printers. That's specialized. Most people have Lasers and Inkjet printers for everyday printing and might want to do some transfers as well from time to time. As is, the paper can be printed on using any laser printer, any toner based copier. Or if you treat the paper as I've demonstrated in a recent video, you can also use your inkjet printer. :-)
@vadimkorob26893 ай бұрын
Thank you for the video! Just a couple of questions: will it hold the solvent-based clear coat over the transfer and will it affect the picture?
@imagetransferswithrix3 ай бұрын
Not sure what you mean by 'hold the solvent-based clear coat'. From what I can tell, you can apply a sealing coat without issue. I've not tried every type of coating, so you'll have to experiment there.
