I had a few very close friends that friendzoned me(I heard through the grape vine and one confirmed directly that she didn't reciprocate the same feelings for me). I had to create distance and not hang with them after being like the "mayor" of the group. I boiled it down to they either thought they could do better, didn't find me that attractive, saw some other flaws, or had their own insecurities or weird preferences(I base this off some of the other guys they had gone out with). Based on this, I figured why hang with them and they could go hang out with "better" guys. Some said I came across as a friend and didn't make intentions clear. I get that to a degree, but People don't understand that in these cases feelings may grow over time and guys like myself also may want to fully vet the person, the vibe, and the connection before going in that deep, especially if it is a friend and you're in a friend group. In fact, one girl I had some interest in I eventually pulled out because of certain factors and it was definitely the right choice- I avoided the problems I could have had in a relationship with her. End of the day, I think it comes down to the The factors listed in this video and what I stated. If say Brad Pitt or Ryan Gosling was their friend for a bit, they'd jump at the chance of dating him if he expressed interest down the line or became single/available.
