They're all popular characters and trademark renewals. Hasbro knows they'll sell so there's a pretty good chance we'll get everyone from seasons 2 and 3. It's easy money.

They could also use high-gloss paint or a high-gloss finish. I've also seen sombody brush graphite powder--believe it or not--on an action figure to make it really shiny.

Agreed. Obscurity has become a non-issue for this design team. If the character looks cool, it will sell… Even if by looking cool I mean wearing garish decos based on cancelled G2 repaints.

Thank you! The Apeface and Snapdragon from Primal and Megatron ideas were ones I’ve had for years but think make so much sense given how the G1 Horrorcons worked.

Depthcharge should be a leader and both tarantulas and TM 2 cheetor should be a voyager. Depthcharge was like twice the size of rattface when he was a transmetal.

I second this. However, given how Hasbro handled Tasmania Kid/Snarl, perhaps they could use Beast Wars Trilogy Part 1 to knock out some of the molds needed to flesh out Lio, Galvatron, Big, and Magmatron’s crews. Diver gets you Spittor, B’Boom and Apache are pretty much identical, Scuba and Ikard get you Claw Jaw, and the Magnaboss trio and Tripredacus Council could net us some Selects repaints of them as the other Magnaboss trio and the Jointrons.

If you ask me, we should retire the recent idea that Scorponok is but one of many Scorponok drones. It’s ridiculous. The Maximal “Autotrooper”, going off of the toyline(s) seems to be split between the big cat (Cheetor/Tigatron/Ravage) and squid (Claw Jaw/Ikard/Scuba) body types. Conversely, the Predacon “Vehicon” seems to be split between the wasp body types (Waspinator/Buzzsaw/Thrustor) and pterodactyl body types (Terrorsaur/Lazorbeak/Hydra). Admittedly, Thrustor and Ravage are cheating given the former’s nature as a Cyborg Beast and the latter only sharing Cheetor and Tigatron’s body types when he’s a Transmetal/thanks to his Kingdom toy being a Cheetor retool, but still.

and If they did a Big Convoy, they could easily remold him into Ironhide from that one beast wars combiner. We already have Skywarp from that same combiner.

Well, if we did new Transmetals molds I wonder what they'll be retooled/recolored into. Y'know how Hasbro has to get milage out of the toolings.

@@GladDestronger As someone else said, Airrazor, Silverbolt, and Cheetor could be their Armada Unicron counterparts. Transmetal Waspinator could not only be a new Dirgegun, but also an alternative Seeker mold(a Beast Seeker mold would be epic btw).

at least you're not as stuck as the bay-verse fans, there's always third party options for some CHUG scaled toys.

“UT designs only good for one use” So? Make up new decos (or bring back old decos) and create new identities for them. For example, Armada Demolishor as Onslaught (new head; in Sunbow colors)? Energon Demolishor as G1 Landfill (new head and Targetmasters? Cybertron Defense Hot Shot as Movieverse Wreckage? Energon Ironhide as G1 Roadbuster (opposite of Cloud Roadbuster being T30 Roadbuster in Energon Ironhide/Superlink Roadbuster colors?) Armada Starscream being used as the basis for UT Rainmakers (with G2-level neon)? Cybertron Snarl as G1 Carnivac?

Or… you could make NEW fun repaints, even if it’s just homaging another character.

Not really since it isn't asymmetrical and doesn't have any organic component in its design. Also, the original toy was advertised as "Transmetals" and not "Transmetals 2".

Optimus Primal: For his first Transmetal design, give us Apelinq. He's more commonly known now thanks to the Rise of the Beasts movie so that's a really obvious repaint we could get out of the mold. Also would be great if he actually had a Matrix accessory and an opening chest compartment so we could recreate that scene. That might be unlikely but it's kind of the only improvement you could make to that figure. For his TM2 design, Optimal Optimus... GIVE US OPTIMAL MEGATRON FROM BEAST MACHINES! I'm going to keep asking for it till Hasbro makes that figure. I have another idea for this but I'll get to that later with another character on this list. I could also easily see Apeface from either of these molds. You maybe wouldn't be able to get his original vehicle mode in but they're both apes, it just makes sense and I don't know why Hasbro never thought of making a BW Apeface before. Cheetor: Easy retooling potential, make BW Ravage. They technically already did this from the Kingdom Cheetor but that's not really accurate because Ravage in the show was based on the TM design not his season 1 design. You can also make Tigatron from that Ravage. Side note: Unlikely but in the BW video game Ravage and Tigatron were just straight repaints of Cheetor with no new tooling which means there's potential to reuse the mold in the Gamer Edition toy line and get 2 versions of both Tigatron and Ravage out of one mold. That's five different figures right there. I could also easily see Cheetor being retooled into Sinnertwin or Twin Strike. They'd only need a new tail piece and to remold the hands so they're each 2 full heads rather than halves of the same head. Something else I'm surprised they never did. Make BW versions of Hot Rod and Tracks. The Fox Kids version already looks fairly close to Hot Rod's colors and the beast legs even stuck up behind his back like the spoiler, just make his back kibble yellow and he could be a BW Hot Rod. Maybe call him Rodimus Primal. As for Tracks, well the 3rd mode has always reminded me of a BW version of Tracks anyway. Tracks is just folding wings out of a car to make it fly and Cheetor is folding wings out of a cheetah to make it fly. It just makes sense. Suddenly there is 8 possible uses out of this one mold. As for what they need to improve from the original. The two major flaws of the original toy was the hollow space left in the middle of the beast mode when you fold the wings out. That could easily be solved by adding 2 extra panels that fold out to fill that gap. The other issue is that he really doesn't have articulation to put his beast heads together in robot mode without breaking transformation to fake it. That's the one thing I always wanted that toy to be able to do that it really can't. TM2 Cheetor... I'm going to be honest, I hate his TM2 design, it's the worst design in the series. I actually like BM Cheetor more than TM2 but I'm going to talk about it anyway. The only potential repaint option for this one is again Ravage. There aren't as many options for TM2 Cheetor as there are for the original TM design. As for improvement... as a toy this was also the worst in the entire toy line. I'm surprised it hasn't been a plastic addict victim because TM2 Cheetor has articulation on par with most of G1. What little articulation he does have is completely useless. No real elbows because the spikes sticking out the back. For some reason only one arm has a rotation at the wrist and the other arm has a a downward hinge and a panel on the arm that does NOTHING I've never known why it's there. He has knee joints but his legs are molded to be permanently bent so that knee is pointless. He can't actually stand up straight so why even give him the joints when the legs are permanently molded into one position? And the worst crime of all is the design is so bad I can't even tell it's a cheetah. The show actually makes the design look slightly better by actually giving him cheetah spots but the toy never bothered to paint that detail. I hate this thing so much. If Hasbro can improve the articulation and make it more clear what he actually is I might change my mind on this design but gawd TM2 Cheetor is a terrible design. Oh and the show does actually have Cheetor take the gun out of his back and used it as a hand gun which the toy can't actually do. I mean you can take the gun off, it's just on a friction hinge but what I mean is he can't hold it in his hand. The way his hands are molded there's no way for him to actually hold the handle. I hate that figure so much, I have one some where. Rattrap: There's what he always gets repainted into... Packrat. You can also do the repaint into his season 1 colors to replicate that weird animation error in the cartoon which could also be a Gamer Edition reuse of the mold since the Beast Wars video game did have his season 1 colors as one of the alternate color pallets for him. They could also make him into BW Battletrap. That might be a bit of a stretch but it's an excuse to reuse the mold. As for what to improve, literally all you'd need to do is add a rotation joint so you can turn the back kibble around because yeah his wheels are in the wrong spot. I've seen them do that with other modern toys where the back kibble has to completely turn upside down as part of the transformation so they've done it before. Silverbolt: Most likely going to see Windrazor. Maybe the Universe colors but I don't think anyone is wanting to see that ugly color scheme ever again. Left field repaint ideas, make him into Max B from Beast Wars II. You could even remold the wings into the capture claw thing that Max B had. And then you make the Max B version of the mold back into Silverbolt... in the same style as Thrustinator where it's like an amalgamation of both Silverbolt and Jetstorm. I would love that. Jetbolt, Silverstorm, whatever they end up calling him I'd actually buy these weird concepts over Windrazor cause I honestly don't care about Windrazor. Depth Charge: The Universe repaint. I could also easily see him as Soundwave. He has a similar build to Cybertron Soundwave. Very similar color scheme too, at least to my color blind eyes. I don't even think they need to leave him as a Manta Ray I could easily picture them retooling the mold into a stealth bomber and having BW Depth Charge and Cybertron Soundwave just be retools of eachother. There's nothing to really improve on either cause Depth Charge is already 100% accurate to the cartoon. Tigerhawk: Yeah we're getting a Razorclaw out of this cause it's the only possible repaint from that mold. Hopefully we'll get some retooling this time around because the first time Razorclaw is a Predacon but he still has Maximal insignias molded in... and painted for some reason which always confused me.

Megatron: The only real repaint option is Armada Predacon. I could also see him as Snapdragon. Again like Apeface he wouldn't have the original vehicle mode but I could see him working in Snapdragon's color scheme. For that matter we could also do him as Grimlock and Trypticon. I know Dinobot is traditionally the one who gets turned into Grimlock but he's originally a T-Rex not a raptor so Megatron actually makes a lot more sense. And there is also Megatron X from the Beast Wars video game if they replace his butt fans with wings they could reuse the mold in the Gamer Edition toy line. As for what to improve, I doubt they'd actually include this unless it was a MP figure but the only things I really want an updated Megatron to be able to do that he can't do already would be to have a separate tail attachment for the Golden Disk. He used that twice in the show, once with a complete Disk destroying the top of a mountain to test if future recorded events would actually change and then later when showing G1 Megatron's recorded message on a fragmented piece of the disk to Ravage. I also want him to have the spark chamber compartment with the tentacle arm holding G1 Megatron's Spark. I know there's a 3rd party figure that already did all of this but I want Hasbro to make it. For the TM2 design, we're obviously getting a Cryotek. It even looks like they gave Megatron the wrong head because that is Cryotek's head mold on Megatron's body. They some how made the Legacy version LESS accurate to the cartoon by using that head sculpt. Tarantulus: They can probably get away with the Fox Kids repaint for this one cause it was actually used in the comics apparently. I have no idea how they'd improve it because the original toy is already 100% accurate to what appeared in the cartoon. Blackarachnia: Easy one, Arcee. As for what to improve, The beast mode is spot onto the cartoon. Unfortunately the robot mode isn't quite right. She has a lot of shell hanging off her back and giant shoulder kibble that is just not accurate to the cartoon. A 3rd party made one but unfortunately their solution was just to make her a partsformer and remove the extra kibble which I'm not a fan of. At least make the parts into a weapon or something don't just leave me with extra parts I can't do anything with.I'd rather have a big dumb shield or inaccurate kibble than just a bunch of panels that do nothing in robot mode. Also for some reason the toy has an inaccurate chest panel which can be removed leaving her with a more show accurate appearance but... why does the toy have a bra and nipples... The official version is just an unfortunate placement of peg holes but the 3rd party figure replicates this with far more anatomically correct parts which still makes her inaccurate to the cartoon because she does not have nipples nor a bra. Please stop making Blackarachnia have nipples and just make a version with an animation accurate chest. I shouldn't even need to say this about a toy line for children. And for the record the Arcee version of the mold did have retooling done giving her the cartoon accurate chest already so you can't remove her bra on that version. Quickstrike: Honestly this is the hardest one to find a repaint for because there is no obvious choice to repaint him into. I could however see him being a retool of Optimal Optimus. Specifically the Power of the Primes mold because the way that toy works, is designed for a smaller figure to integrate into the larger body. Quickstrike was the pilot for that control unit thing they were using to remote control Optimus in that one episode so you just repaint the body all gunmetal grey and engineer a Deluxe Quickstrike to integrate into the body where the smaller Primal figure would have originally plugged in. It's accurate to something that happened in the show, it lets them sell a Leader class figure of a character they wouldn't otherwise be able to sell at that price point, and it gives them another use of that mold. Another idea I have is to engineer Quickstike as a Combiner. It wouldn't be accurate to the show but it does allow for more repaint potential if he's a combiner. You can repaint the scorpion half as Scorponok and the cobra half as Colada. Sell Scorponok and Colada separately and Quickstrike as together as a combined set. The components which I'll just call Quickdraw and Multistrike wouldn't sell on their own but the combined Quickstrike would. Similarly Scorponok and Colada are big enough characters to sell on their own separately without even advertising that they can combine but whatever combined mode you'd make from them, let's call it Scopiada wouldn't really sell as a 2 pack. If engineering him to work with other figures is too much of an ask the only other possible thing I could think of would be to just remold the snake tail into a regular scorpion tail and again call it Scorponok. I don't think it'd sell as Scorponok though because it's something that doesn't really appear in fiction but having the tail be an arm isn't too far off from the Rise of the Beasts Scorponok design so maybe Hasbro is already considering this as a possibility. As for what to improve on the figure... well original Quickstrike had a lot of Translucent plastic for some reason. I'm not totally against it but there's no reason for it to be translucent. He's just not colored correctly to look like the cartoon because they made the weird choice to use translucent plastic instead of opaque plastic. The only parts that look correct are the parts that were painted over but everything else is translucent for no reason. Rampage: Only option for him is Shokaract. And nothing really needs to be improved because he's already 100% show accurate. Dinobot: Rapticon. As for what to improve, the toy is fairly show accurate already. There are some small details that could be better. Wider chest in robot mode. Better articulation in the arms. He does have some weird articulation in the show but the way the toy is molded it just looks more awkward than creepy, it needs to be weird in the right way. In beast mode the arms are too long and just look awkward on the toy. I'm pretty sure those are actually his robot mode legs but in the show his beast arms seem to be unique separate parts that are much smaller and better proportioned. Also there are parts on his back just above his shoulders in beast mode that on the toy are molded with tech detail but in the show appears to be more of a scaled flesh like texture. He should also have the Spark in a squeeze box accessory to go with Rampage and the missing finger from when he lasered it off in his first appearance. I don't usually like effect parts but if they giver me the laser eye piece I'd actually be OK with that one. I should mention that if they were to actually make Beast Wars Metals Gamer Edition figures then all of the Season 2 cast do have 3 built in repaints except for Tarantulus because one of his potential repaints would have to be an entirely new mold borrowing his engineering because Blackarachnia was used as one of his recolors but she was made super skinny. This is also probably the only way we'd get the non-Show Transmetals like Waspinator who is one of my favorite Transmetal designs because he's the only one with a vehicle mode that actually looks like a vehicle. And if they make a Gamer Edition TM Waspinator we'd also get Starscream from that.
