Notes from Chamberlain:
Hub is too close to the motor unit
In some instances, interference may occur when the hub has been installed too close to the motor unit.
Unplug the hub and move it away at least 4-6 feet from the motorhead. Test to see if the door will open and close. If this takes care of the issue, the hub will need to be installed further away from the motor unit.
If the hub has to be installed further away from the opener, it must still be installed inside the garage so that the flashing light is visible to the door.

First off thanks for the video!! My MyQ HW/SW was pretty solid when I first installed it about 4 yrs ago but it's become extremely flaky over time. Really bad in the last year or so. HW hasn't changed so I can only assume the SW updates are my root cause. I found this vid and moved my module about 3.5 feet further away from the garage opener unit and it's working well. It works for my self and my wife. I've got 2 LED bulbs in my opener and it still works. Good luck finding an old style incandescent bulb in CA, they don't sell them any more.

The designers of MyQ are a joke, and the device works until it decides not. Then the pain of resetting starts and guess what? It does not work with a msg to contact support. Good lucky with that!

Thank you!! I was so frustrated with this issue. My HUB was about 5ft away from the opener. Support told me to replace my LED light bulbs with "garage opener" approved bulbs, when I did the issue remained. After watching your video, this issue is now resolved. I moved it the length of the power cable for the HUB. SO SIMPLE!!! So glad I stumbled across your video.

I read somewhere to rotate the device 180 degrees, which I did and that solved my issue. TS wanted me to move it as well. Glad I tried that first.

Thanks for the feedback! Another option that worked was completely resetting the device and starting over! I had everything paired but the garage wouldn’t open. Hope that helps someone!

If the green light is on and your app says it is offline, just unplug the hub and plug it back in. It worked for me.

@@Hindsight101 I got the MyQ hub device almost 3 years ago and I can honestly tell you that there has NEVER been a full 7 days where this device has not thrown an error or reported it was up when it was down or vice versa. Since relocating the hub I have not any issues with the unit. It has worked perfectly and since it has been working I’ve been using it more often than usual. Even with the increased usage I have not seen any errors or issues all week. Thank you so much for this tip, I was so disgusted with this device that I I practically stopped using it. Thank you!!!

Mine was opening but would not close, removed it from cieling and installed it on the side wall. Now both open close works fine. I thought i would install it next to socket on the ceiling but i guess that made it very close to the motor. Problem solved thanks a million for advise!!

It’s weird because some people mount it right on the opener and it still works like charm. The reason most put it close is it looks cleaner that way and most don’t like wires dragging everywhere.

We have two Genie openers sharing one MyQ hub. Recently one of the door sensors needed a new battery then I pared it to the hub again. Today we were unable to make one of the doors open or close through the app despite the hub flashing and beeping and the app communicating with the door sensor. Thinking it could be the opener somehow lost its paring to the hub.

Wow! Mine was as simple as a dipping electrical cord sitting between the hub and the motor...pull it out of the way and it’s back to normal!

Hi! I wanted to write to thank you. I moved the hub as far away as the wire would allow, and what do you know, I can open the door when I pull up to the garage. This was extremely frustrating and I couldn't wrap my head around why it wasn't working properly. I share in your frustration regarding the install instructions - if I recall they instruct you to position the hub close. Nonetheless, thanks for sharing the tip. It's appreciated.

Intersting I’m going to try this and report back. I have 2 door openers and only 1 is working and the 2nd will work for one day then totally stop. 2 doors with one hub and 2 sensors. I’ll try moving the hub.

MyQ has been installed for a week on my Chamberlain. Today the drive belt was loose, so I tightened it. The MyQ will open, but not close. I cycled the door on the manual button and also on my car button. Still not working on the Q app. My unit is installed the length of the cord from the opener. Hmmmmmm 10 minutes later i pushed the Q app to close the door from inside the house. I went in the garage and door was closing. Then I opened it. Hmmmm I'm a genius!

I don’t know why this house came with this feature, I really wish I could just have a regular garage door opener. I feel like I was set up to have to pay for services down the line. I just want my garage door to work 😭

@@Hindsight101 ohh okay. I called one of the shops listed in the app and they tried to charge me like 190 for a diagnostic. My garage door will open, but not close when using the app. I’ll have to close it manually and even then it will stop in the middle of closing and start beeping- then open up again.

@@4thTribeJudith it sounds like the sensors that are at the bottom of the garage door are off you need to make sure they line up so they are facing each other exactly. There's a laser that has to line up with each of the sensors and if that's off your door will do that stuff

This might be my problem. I accidentally reset mine so I’m reconnecting and it doesn’t work after finishing setup. But it’s weird I had it really close to the garage opener for 2 years but now it doesn’t work if it’s close. Kinda dumb

Mines the opposite the chamberlain garage is having issues going offline all the time. Hub works fine tho at the other house.

I've heard that the bulbs in your garage could cause issues, especially the ones that are in the unit themselves. Try taking them out and see if that makes it better. You can get special bulbs that don't interfere with the Wi-Fi

MyQ works great but I’m getting two notifications back to back every time it opens or closes. Any suggestions on how to fix the double notification?

@@Hindsight101 actually I just chatted with Myq support. The fix is to turn off notifications for app then delete notification history in the myQ app, delete app and download the craftsman garage door app(red app) sign in, cycle the door then delete craftsman app and reinstall myQ app, turn notifications back on and bingo bango, only getting one notification.

Constant “sensor error” on the app. The MyQ is way too inconsistent. It will work for 2 months then I have to reset it and sync it with the opener weekly.

Couple of questions. Have you always had this problem or is it a new unit? Have you tried resetting the myq and the reprogramming it? Does the garage door open normally with the wall unit?

Remove all LED or halogen lights from garage.. they give off radio signals and can interfere with signal to garage door opener.. also BURIED in support pages.. then reset hub and do setup from scratch.. mine works perfectly now!
