#3 - you put into words something I couldn’t quite put into words- that is quite helpful for me and as I’m working with the vocalists in our church.

So glad to hear! The #3 wasn’t something I was fully thinking about before and even very aware of… but I’m seeing the importance more now.

@@WorshipRefocus totally. It made me think about a comment my husband made- he is not the “musical” one and singing is not his first method of meaningful worship, but he said once that even without much of a musical ear, when a singer is off, he can tell something doesn’t quite feel right and it’s distracting. For myself, singing with someone off key is distracting to ME, and I really have to fight to stay focused. And that can affect my ability as a music leader to be directing hearts to the Lord.

How inspiring you are! Others can really take note and see it’s possible to grow musically no matter their age. Can I ask what your background in music training is as far as voice? Your sound seems classical. Your voice is rich and textured but sits high. It’s lovely and your wife plays the piano stunningly well. My background is worship music at church also, playing the piano as a child into adulthood. I’ve been taking singing lessons for a few months and my voice has grown so much! I’m grateful to learn this musical ability because it does make playing the piano even more fulfilling and colorful.

Really good thoughts and reasons.😃 My thoughts are (1) I can lead the music with 4 chords but can't lead the congregation to praise with only 4 notes. (2) I can't put a capo on my vocal chords. (3) Our role is to get the congregation to sing. We have to train. 🙏🎸🙏🎤🙏🎹🙏
