What if every single one of Yoda species is so powerful with the force that together they use the force to keep their planet, forever, closed and invisible to less powerful species?

Based on Grogu still being an infant at 50 years old as well as Yoda & Yaddle’s overall ages by the time they died, I’m willing to speculate their species may also have a significantly lower birth rate than most others which might factor into a need for secrecy about the rest of their people…

I think it is most likely that Yoda's species resides outside the known galaxy, so it would make sense that the general public, Jedi, and Republic/Empire know little to nothing about them. If so then Yoda had good reason for not wanting them to know, but it also does beg the question of why and how Yoda left his home world in the first place.

I agree with the theory that grand master Yoda come from a world that's strong in the force therfore making every member of Yoda's species force sensitive. Might of fact Yoda's species are so, strong in the force that they have no need for highly advanced technology. They have the means to for interstellar travel but, are staunch isolationist. And any member of their species who want to venture out into the galaxy cannot come back.

The short answer is simple, only Lucas knows and it was always his intention to keep it a secret. It builds suspense and keeps people wandering. A great tactic for a writer. As to if he has any idea behind the why we may never know. Maybe he has a reason but it's possible there never was a reason. Maybe in the future, he builds on that mystery or even writes this mystery into existence but as of right now, I am pretty sure it's just to keep people like us guessing or at least was intended to be that way at first.

Given that there were spies within the Republic, Yoda also probably feared that maybe the Separatists would also try to find his planet, and Count Dooku at the time was even more brutal when forcing a planet to submit to him. On both sides of the war, whenever a potential weapon is discovered, it is exploited as much as possible, and Yoda may have feared that his people would become one such weapon should they be discovered.

Pretty sure the idol on the trading card is none other than the great Yogurt.

Maybe Yoda himself doesn't know. Maybe the species just pops into existence randomly at various spots in the galaxy. Obviously Grogu's approximate age was known to the Imperial remnant in Mando episode 1 so the species isn't completely unknown to scientists of the galaxy.

As a kid I always thought Yoda's species were created by the Force to help even the odds for the light side since they're highly skilled and incredibly wise.

Yoda's origin story is a strange yet curious tale , yoda left his homeworld with a friend and got stranded on a system close to his home world. Yoda's master discovered him, and he was taken to the jedi because he was force sensitive. My opinion is that Yoda's homeworld is hidden in the unknown regions , it is a dangerous world where the scars of ancient wars have left it's mark ( the old republic) the sith wiped out 97 per cent of Yoda's species in a cruel genocide 2 thousand years prior to the phantom menace . Now there are few remaining, the species is so rare and pure of heart that none of them turn to the dark Side. They appear known to the light Side of the force when the galaxy needs them ( grogu ) is the first since Yaddle .

I always figured that force sensitivity in Yoda’s species was very rare, making the ones that are very powerful and why only a handful of them have left their home world. I agree that their secrecy is due to some sort of vow those that leave must take

I'll go with the idea that Yoda has access to 'The World Between Worlds" and therefore can travel to past and future. This sets up a Robert A. Heinlein's March 1959 short story 'All You Zombies' paradox where (spoilers) - _ Grogu is baby Yoda sent- back in time by Yoda to protect him. I'll leave the Yaddle spoilers to those you read the Heinlein short-story.

A theory came in my mind. What if their memories of the way to come back to their home has been erased?? I mean, every member we saw of this race were very strong in the force, so there's a high probability that this race is equivalent of the sith pure blood but for the light. It means some of them surely have the capacity to manipulate memories of people, like the jedi but in a stronger way. So, erasing their memories of the way to come back could be a safety.

I think I remember an old interview with George Lucas where he said he purposely wanted the origins of Yoda's species a secret and would never allow anyone to write about it in any of the extended media like comics and books

My friend has a theory that Yodas race is extragalactic and on the run from the Yuuzhan Vong.

I like to believe Yodas species is born from the Force. Created by the force when it feels the balance tipping too much into the dark. - Example - Grogu was "born" the same year as Anakin.

Yoda was the FrankOzian species.

Well maybe we don’t see them interact with each other because they communicate telepathically with each other. That could explain why Grogu hasn’t learned to talk yet. Maybe they don’t have a home world. I have thought since baby yodas age was revealed that they are birthed from the force when it needs to balance something like sideous creating Anakin. That is why they are the same age. The force may create them somewhere around other species and have the other species raise them. Their cuteness mixed with force mind manipulation gives them whatever protection and parental guidance they need. That’s why in season 1 of the Mandalorian every living being who goes to capture baby Yoda ends up protecting him instead until IG-88 a non living droid gets to him. Baby Yoda couldn’t mind control the droid. That could also be why Yoda, Yaddle and baby Yoda don’t act at all alike. They weren’t raised in the same culture. They were raised by a host culture as basically a force parasite until they are able to fend for themselves fully.

if all/most of yoda's species is force sensitive, than they are the true antithesis of the sith race its easy to see why he would want to hide all information about himself and his people, especially considering the state of the galaxy during the empire and even after

I believe the members of Yoda's species who leave their homeworld have their minds wiped regarding its location. It's not that Yoda will not divulge that information, he simply can't. This could have happened to Grogu's mother. She was banished, or chose to leave for some reason, while she was pregnant with him, and after he was born something happened to her.

What if Yoda's species are like the people on dathomir where the can use magic along with the force, and explains why Yoda would rather have his species kept a secret. Or Yoda was raised at the Jedi temple and doesn't remember his kind.

Here's a wild idea: what if Grogu was present at the Jedi Temple because he was born there? This would explain Yoda & Yaddle refusing to interact when anyone else is present; their isolation from each other reinforces their ability to hide from their fellow Jedi the fact that they have a son.

It would've been strange if Yaddle and Yoda never spoke since they were both on Jedi council. And they were noted to be close to one another, I read the book long ago probably 15 years or so but I remember vaguely grieving after her death. Plus she was much better liked by the younglings and padawans since she was kinder, Yoda was always more detached and she was all heart.

Yoda’s species should always remain a mystery.

Maybe Yoda secretly IS a member of the Celestial Race and their secrecy is due to the rest of the Galaxy assuming their destruction.

For some time, it has been my opinion that members of Yoda's race only leave their home world if they have above a certain level of Force sensitivity. That there are not more, and the high strength of those we see, suggests that Yoda, Yaddle, and Grogu could be outliers in terms of their strength in the Force.

I think the distance between Yoda and Yaddle have something to do with their failed romance? Grogu is their bastard?

It would be interesting if Grogu was the child of Yoda and Yaddle. They were both very old Jedi; and likely had known each other for a long time. Also being 2 isolated members of their species likely very far from or unable to return to their native world it would make sense for them to procreate; especially considering the potential their child could have. Yoda could have planned this; to birth a successor to train and eventually take on the mantle of Jedi Grandmaster. Whether they are related or not I believe this was Yoda's vision for Grogu until order 66 happened.

I want to know why Grogu has solid black alien-like eyes. Yoda and Yaddle have human-like eyes

My theory before the introduction of Grogu was that Yoda's species is... Human. Think about what Yoda said to Luke during his final moments in "Return of the Jedi". "Look I so old to young eyes?"; "When 900 years old you become, not so good you will look, hmm?" Basically, my theory was that Yoda is what happens to a human who lives for 900 years.

I've given it much thought with the way he carries himself and how Grogu acts being so young. I imagine Yoda was the outcast from his world and maybe his ways were too severe or too violent for his world forcing him to find people who he could better relate with being the jedi. On the other side which would make sense perhaps yoda keeps his homeworld secret because he is one of the few beings like Yaddle who perfers the light side. I say perfer because maybe his homeworld is filled with light and dark side users living in unison. Or a more believable theory, his homeworld is filled with dark side users cut off from the galaxy and he keeps it secret to protect the galaxy from an unbeatable species of dark side users.

I remember reading a comic where Yoda and Yaddle interacted. It was when Yaddle was rescued from her hole when she was a padawan and accepted as a jedi master.

I don't know why but that card image made me immediately think of Space Balls.

So, we do know that one of Yodas species was on the council during Knights Of The Old Republic. Amnesiac Revan was set on his quest to defeat the Sith by one. I'm guessing that Yoda's species decided not to join the Old Republic a LONG time ago. If they are so Force Powerful, the "Yoda Council" might have foreseen what happens to the Old Republic thousands of years ago and just Noped Out. Individuals, who don't know about the future because they are Younglings, wouldn't be told about the Forseeing but would be made to give a Vow Of Silence before being allowed to go out into the Galaxy. I pity any fool who parks a warship in their planets orbit. Star Destroyer goes CRUNCH... tiny metal moon now in orbit.

What if Yoda and Yaddle were in love and purposely avoided one another so they would never arouse suspicion and Grogu is the product of their illicit affair. If Yoda did break the rules of the order and was in love with Yaddle and had a secret child with her it could also account for why Yoda was unable to perceive that Palpatine was a Sith.

If we get an Official Name for his Species & Home Planet, it should be a Tribute to Frank Oz.

I personally believe that the statue of Yogurt in Spaceballs was directly inspired by this trading card artwork. As for Yoda and his species, there is a reason why his species is kept secret, whether its a solid and amazing backstory or if there was no story at all is irrelevant now. The creator wants it this way and the mystery is just too much fun.

Yoda species has an extremely long lifespan. Typically on earth animals that have a large lifespan have lower birth rates. As a result, it might be a protection of measure to preserve his speeches from outside harm that could take years to replace those lost.

Grogulorian, "Grogu" is going to have quite the curious life story, if he makes it to an adult...with his species Force potential, raised amongst a warrior family, such as the Mandalorians...

I think you got it spot on. Yoda wanted to keep his people safe from the Galaxy at large. In this smart he was.

There is direct contact and communication between Yoda and Yaddle in one of the new High Republic books. Durring a battle, there are two people trapped underground from a mudslide/cave-in. Yoda and Yaddle go to the scene, one says "Water" the other says "Earth" and then they target the respective part of the problem with the Force, and pulling and moving the water and mud away to rescue the two trapped people. Earlier in the same book, they do have a conversation via a holo communication, and Yaddle has a youngling she's taking to the Jedi for training with her, who when she see's Yoda in the hologram asks "Is that your brother?" to which Yaddle says "No." Just some interesting things that are new information to help add to the mystery.

The 1993 P3 Yoda’s World trading card is one of the rare trading cards to obtain in Star Wars card collecting. Nobody really knows how many of those trading cards are out there, but myself personally, I’ve heard of only 12. That card is a mystery just like Yoda‘s race. There is a backstory to the card as well. The card has been reproduced, but owning a rare original, is something special!

I assume that one Grogu is somewhat advanced as a force user, Yoda's force ghost will at least have a chat with the kid. At most, Yoda had prepared for this moment and can guide Grogu to his homeworld and some fun holocrons. Just a thought.

One small correction. Yoda and Yandle did directly interact with each other in the high republic book Cataclysm. Although that was during a battle and that book was released after this video was made.

Yoda's species is so secretive because George wants them to be. It was part of his deal with Disney to never talk about them.

I’ve said this on other Star Wars KZfaq channels and since I like yours a lot I’ll say it to you now. I personally believe that we won’t know much of anything about Yoda & Yaddle’s species until George Lucas either dies or is on his deathbed. If on his deathbed, I can see him giving Dave Filoni permission to either use a pre-written backstory Lucas had about his species, or at least permission for Feloni and Favreau to write one of their own.

Isn't it actually in the sale contract that Disney cannot create a backstory for Yoda's species. Because he had already established that Yoda was Kermit, and Miss Piggy's love child.

I actually have a theory about Grogu and why he was at the Temple. First off, we know that he is considered special, in as much as the Jedi swarmed to protect him, with even Blade Master Cin Dralig dying a third time just to protect him, with Jedi Jar Jar making Grogu's escape a priority while leaving the other younglings to cower and die, as was the case with Reva. We're never shown why he is special. But s theory of mine is that he LITERALLY IS baby Yoda. As in, the child of Yoda and Yaddle. It's actually a common misconception that a Jedi can't procreate. Anakin could have fathered Luke and Leia and been fine. It was marriage to Padme that would've gotten him in trouble, and even then there are acceptions to every rule, as Ki-Adi-Mundi and his race are allowed to not only procreate, but marry multiple people. The rule is for attachment, not celibacy. It's possible that Grogu was the child of Both Yoda and Yaddle, and the timeline fits as Grogu was around during the time both masters were alive. Why would they do this? It's highly possible that their trust in Anakin was shaken and they wanted to create a fall back plan as Yoda's species are naturally strong, rivaling the Chosen one, and their long life spans make it easy to develop detachment from others as they naturally outlive everyone else. It's another possibility that he is a clone of Yoda, which could explain the same, as well as the interest in his genetic material for Palatine's clone, same as the reason why the Empire is interested in Omega and Clone Force 99. I just stray from this belief due to how they would likely be against cloning one of their own, especially the strongest Jedi. Then again, the Bith species procreate through such means as cloning, and the Jedi seemed okay with the use of Jango's Clones. But this is just a theory I've had for a while and wanted to get it out there and see what you think. Thanks for reading!

Perhaps their species is telepathic by nature, using the Force as a way of communication. This would allow Yoda and Yaddle to communicate in secret, even when others are around. It would also explain why Yoda speaks the way he does; communicating with words may be more difficult than communicating with thought for him.

This is what I think makes the most sense. Yoda went and got trained in the force outside of the Jedi order so he could make a well-thought out decision on whether to join the Jedi or not. Joining makes him a "watcher" for his people, where he stays in the center of galactic politics in the Jedi temple and thus is able to keep an eye on the issues of the day, and at least give his home world a warning if they're discovered and people come looking for them. They understand that getting involved in galactic alliances ultimately puts them in jeopardy, even if it's beneficial at the moment, cause empires and republics fall, new orders rise, and known planets get destroyed in the turmoil. Yoda likely took such a high position in the Jedi council so he could even steer discussions away from topics that might lead to his planet being compromised. But by Revenge of the Sith, Yoda's getting old and the Jedi are on the front lines of a war, either of which may lead to his sudden death, so having another young member of his species in the council is a strategic move of insurance. After the fall of the Republic, it's likely Sideous was keeping a sharp eye out for Yoda. In the brief chaos where the Empire was still being formed, Yoda had a chance to escape while Palpatine was distracted. However, Yoda knew Luke was the chosen one after Anakin, and knew that if he went back to his home world, Yoda wouldn't be able to train or guide Luke. With the rest of the Jedi being massacred and hunted, Yoda knew he was likely the only Jedi master who could hide within reach of Luke to train him to eventually bring back balance. So Yoda used the brief window of chaos where Sideous' attention was diverted to getting the Empire going to escape to Dagobah, knowing that if he ever left the planet and thus the cloaking of the dark cave, Sideous would sense him and come for him. This further reinforces Yoda's strategy of keeping his home world undiscovered, because training Luke to be capable of overthrowing the Empire would keep the Empire distracted from exploring and mapping unknown areas.

I like to think that Yoda's lifestyle on Dagobah is reminiscent of his people's lifestyle on their home planet.

I theorize that ancient ancestors of yoda's people were numerous and powerful enough to actually oppose the rakatan empire. Although they lost and were almost wiped out, the conflict would eventually lead to the downfall of the rakatans. The near extinction of the species causes the yoda species to become more reclusive so that the survivors reestablish their home in a more isolated part of the galaxy while still keeping a small colony in a undisclosed part of normal space in order to keep tabs on things.

Grogu will grow up knowing exactly who is. A Mandalorian. This is the way.

My personal hypothesis is that they don't divulge about the whereabout of their planet because for some reason why hey can't. Either they left it before knowing enough about technology to know how to astronavigate their way back, or they were kind of kidnaped by other more advanced beings unaware that they were getting in trouble with powerful force users, that would as soon as they wake up, they used the force to break out, or maybe their culture is isolationist to the point that and once you leave you're banished for life. Grogu doesn't seem to have been brought by Yoda or Yaddle to test the waters, it is subtly implied that he was found by the Jedi Master who saved him from Order 66, and that he kind of seen that as some sort of sign, and the reason he saw the need to guarantee his survival at the expense of his own life. He didn't make much of an effort trying to save the other youngling, just Grogu. If that's the case, either Grogu's parents left their home world and died, or he was abducted by offworlders.

one inference we can possibly make about his species if we go by the theory that yaddle and yoda are secretly the parents of grogu is that his species might be on the brink of extinction. using ki adi mundi as an example, his species had a very low male population and with permission from the jedi order, he actually was able to have multiple children on his home planet but could not show any type of emotional connection. if yoda's species is facing a similar problem, we can at least have that as a concrete fact.

I think it's more of a "once you decide to leave you can never come back because you could be physically followed back to your home world by someone, or a powerful enough force sensitive user locking on to your presence in the force could find you."Which would explain why Yoda never went back to his planet when he exiled himself during order 66.

Grogu may be motivated to search for his native people through the force. Sending him down a path of a consular as opposed to the knight you may expect from a mandalorian upbringing.

My theory is simple - it doesn't matter if Yoda knows, doesn't remember or never knew. I feel like either way he would never tell an order that actively seeks out Force-sensitives and does its best to sway them to its side, hoping parents would relinquish their children "for the greater good". Just imagine how the Jedi order would react upon learning the location of a planet full of Yodas, some (many) of them still infant. And that goes for the Sith too. Nope, if I were Yoda, I would never tell either.

We have little on Yoda's species, because George created Yoda after killing off Ben, to create more suspension & have fans wondering how Luke woukd get his training. ;) Good content!

Perhaps a reason is that they are all very powerful in the force but have not underwent jedi training and with how much the sides of the clone war exploited their resources he's afraid they'll turn against them, although we are yet to see a member of yoda's specues to learn the secrets of the dark side and its powers they could still very much betrqy the jedi order and with how much power they possess it's very dangerous to let an aimless wrecking ball on the loose, although they also want to carry out the will of the force, it's obvious the jedi are not the only ones to do that

There’s another option no one has mentioned: his homeworld NO LONGER EXISTS. Sort of like in Star Trek, the homeworld of the El-Aurians, Guinan’s (Whoopi Goldberg) people, was destroyed by the Borg & its people were scattered throughout the galaxy. Ironically, the El-Aurians are sort of Star Trek’s version of Yoda’s people: they have very long lifespans & can sense changes in the timeline.

Picturing a squad or platoons of near yoda level mastery of the force.

I'd like to think Yoda's people have a connection with their planet like the Nightsisters and Dathomir, difference being Yoda's species are more in tune with the light side. The only time a member leaves the planet is when the force wills it and they see one of them can be let loose on the galaxy to help it. They'd know the temptations of the dark side so they'd keep themselves hidden from the rest of the galaxy for most part, so not to be corrupted by them in any way(from politics to way of life that would make them not have balance in the force) So they ignore everyone with no prejudice, whether they'd bring them positive or negative change to their way of life. Or they are the exact opposite of the original Sith species, remember the force must have balance

I have another theory. What if Yoda and other members of his species keep their homeworld isolated from the great galaxy to prevent their species from exposing to Dark Side teachings like the Sith.
