I still maintain that you should add a boost controller to the system, so you can easily switch between pump gas and race gas power. I run the Turbosmart eBoost controller on my 96" 2011 Fat Boy. 179hp/181tq at 14psi on 91 pump gas with ACES IV additive. I haven't bothered to turn it up more and run C16, but before the boost controller, it did make 18psi on C16 and made 201hp/200tq and captured the 1650cc A-PBF record at Bonneville at 167.435mph. That beast should go as fast as you're willing to ride it.

A great inspiration to us all, thanks for sharing Sean :) I ride a 1995 Suzuki Intruder 1400, probably making 72hp and 94ft lbs of torque, I never dyno'ed it I just copied the modifications someone else did who dyno'ed his bike. I wouldn't mind having double the power, basically I want to be worried about pulling a wheelie or frying the tire if I hammer it and it currently does not. Maybe I'll try to turbo it for fun, either way you have a fricken cool bike man. Can't wait til you're comfortable to initiate a 0 - 60 :)

Instead, you should find a way to gear the bike up, to make your engine do even less RPM's. I found that having a super high 6th gear (or 5th) makes a motorcycle a million times more relaxing to drive, if you can get the engine RPM's down by almost 30% when you're cruising, it transforms it into a pure heaven experience, instead of the annoying drone of the engine way over what is necessary for maintaining speed. Performance is good, but super high gears preserve your engine and you could get 25% more engine life by putting 25% higher gears on, and you can also get WAY more gas mileage. One bike I had got 94 mpg after I put a tiny back sprocket on it!

Your Hp-gains , all-the-way-through, are very-impressive . I haven't seen such large-gains on any other motor with such little modification . This model Harley must be pretty-strangled (inlet-through-to-exhaust) . Normally , the first 10-hp is relatively-acheivable but from there-onwards it normally costs A LOT . A 25hp-gain on a 500single , could set you-back 10K . So engine-cost aside(crate-engine), you have done very well. Dave NZ

So to clarify, the crate engine he purchased is a 2150 cc engine or a 2.1L engine, and it has 4.5" pistons (approx) diameter. It's the biggest engine you can possibly buy for a motorcycle, other than Triumph's 2.3L Rocket with a car engine. The crate engine had 140 horsepower stock. On pump gas, he went from 140 horsepower to 210 horsepower, a 70 horsepower gain by adding the cam and turbocharger and oil pump. The camshaft alone added 20 horsepower. Using race gas he was able to temporarily up the boost to get 260 horsepower, but that's not a normal thing you would want for long term.

Being a parts manager, and owning two 131 crates myself (seriously I’m not trying to brag) I can safely tell you that they do not stamp the vin number on the engine. They just give you an MSO to put with the title. If they put the vin number on the engine, they would require you to send the crank case back. Which they don’t because they don’t stamp the matched vin on it

My 19' SG CVO is running 155/148 on 91oct (128ci) and the tq is too much for in town riding. We talked about putting a Trask onto it, but it would mean losing my lowers and I really enjoy my lowers (have the 6 speaker Rockford system + 2 10" subs in the saddlebags), so we decided to add a 2nd tune onto the power vision running VP 109 Reg race fuel (and upgraded the injectors again)...but we're still waiting on the fuel to arrive to see what it does naturally aspirated.

Street is all about torque. My turbo fz10 on pump 91 still only puts out 188hp but the spike in torque to 105ftlbs from 6k through 8k makes a heck of difference. Still struggles to keep front down to use it on street. But for anything below 100mph on a bike it’s all about torque and if you can get it told not brake loose.

I have the highest respect for someone who has the ability and guts to modify a motor intelligently and keep details like upgraded oil flow and power transfer in mind. We only live once and your riding days are not that many. Building the bike you want and enjoy is one of the pleasures most won’t understand. In the end, you are not riding a magazine review or someone else’s opinion, you are riding the motorcycle that does it for you. It’s a visceral thing that the lucky few truly understand.

I started out as a motorcycle mechanic on the Japanese brands in 89 then added the European brands later starting with Ducati then adding the rest over the years but now most of the work I do is on Harley because im old and so are the people who ride them and we just get along well. I love all bikes and HD dose some smart things like make their fuel injection pumps accessible from the top of the tank instead of the bottom like everyone else but their inefficient oil pumps are something else. Maybe it is because the old EVO motors needed volume over pressure and they never got away from that design but HD is the only brand that needs a oil pump upgrade. We got close to 300 wheel HP out of a base model H2 and never gave the stock oil pump a second thought. I have done allot of HD oil pump upgrades mostly upgrading the 88s but lots for builds and they are such a bad design and inefficient. 10 times the size 10 times the parts and 10% of the performance as the metric side of things. I love HD new and old im glad they are getting in the adventure market as well I just want them to built a better oil pump.

You can turbo with Dynojet Power commander V ok. The exhaust two in one so early before turbo affects 02 sensors. Exhaust reversion makes it difficult to autotune but a bit of maths to even out cylinder one and two afr trims or on map results helps to overcome errors. Then adjust up untill it starts to glow red and back it off a bit.

This gets me thinking so much. How much of that bottom end ease could you get back with the cam going back and how much power would that cost? Would it be worth it? Please turn TC off. That cut must have put a lot of load through everything going on-off-on like that. I would rather it light the rubber than stress expensive parts. Only things I would really change are I would have to run it on pump (for availability), I would have backrests for both seats and I would probably go for black turbo and pipes to go with the bike. The stainless are more stand out and cool but I like stealth when its making big numbers. I remember all the haters when you mentioned 200hp and I remember commenting on when you do it I need a parts/cost breakdown so I can copy it. I still need that breakdown - at least for the parts. I'm also wondering what the cheapest RK I can get to put that motor in is since I'll be swapping pretty much everything anyway.

What's odd is that these air cooled push rod engines have the longest stroke of any engine right now. More than any car or truck (except maybe some heavy work trucks). The stroke is around 4.5" which is more than double a Yamaha R1 which only has 2.0 inch stroke. The long stroke makes the pistons have to travel exponentially higher speeds, because the piston has to travel more distance with each revolution of the crankshaft, meaning if you double the stroke, you double the piston speed (not sure the exact math formula). But the piston speed puts a huge strain on the pistons and rings, and there are certain limits to piston speed, not to mention that it puts huge huge strains on connecting rods when you have a 4.5" stroke, because the piston is traveling so much faster (double the speed of a normal engine). That's why Harley's don't rev beyond 7,000 rpms.

It looks like the pie making machine. From the movie chicken run. I like the matching numbers that’s great I appreciate that too. I ride a Lowrider s Shawn and I ride it hard and I can honestly say it is a really good balance of handling brakes and performance. I wanted to do something like this but I didn’t think it would work on my DYNA. More power the brakes wouldn’t be good enough it on the limit of its handling. It’s a perfect balance of everything. I had a hayabusa turbo hardly rode it. I honestly believe it was a better more usable bike. The upgrade in power made it unusable and horrible to ride. Hope you don’t have the same problem. I’d be tempted to try a super charger because of the smooth delivery from tick over too top end. Be careful my Suzuki though me out of the seat a few times. You’ll find out what I mean.

I'm just curious, what happened to your website, went looking for some bikes and couldn't find it... Glad to see that you're still making videos! Would love a review on a katana 750 if you find one.

Im new to the cruiser game but damn this bike looks sexy as F. Been ringing sports bikes for nearly a decade. Just got my first cruiser this week. Grabbed a scout bobber. But looking at this one here, I think I know what my next bike might be.

Have to wonder how well stock internal parts like valves, pistons and piston rods can hold up to the added HP and force. Long term?

Hey Sean, do you think the gains would've been proportionate if you would've used the original engine?

that's a pretty stupid question. You are barely breaking 120 with a 107 and Trask kit.

I remember ruining my XS11 when the V Max came out. 1,300 and 13:1 compression got the job done on Cam2 or Avgas.

The road king is my favourite bike of the Harley line-up, maybe even overall. Can't imagine chucking that behemoth down the road with 200HP

The roads are so nice looking, ours are just crap all the time and slick cause its asphalt..oil and bikes great. Love the setup on the bike but will never get over that the harley engine only outputs 121hp for a 2L engine with CNC heads etc and no way the VE is low to allow for massive gains
