Eddy main since T3 here. When it comes to relaxed, just don't give Eddy any room to breathe. Trying to guess is too risky unless you're a genius at hard reads. Best option is just to knock him out of it with a quick low and turn the stance into a liability (Claudio's hop kick is pure kryptonite for relaxed). Handstand is less dangerous to be honest. Slippery kicks from handstand are easy to read (and very punishable). His power crush can be low jab punished if blocked, helicopter kicks too, and his kick grab can be ducked if you're quick enough. I'm used to the hate he gets but like any other character, it's just a matter of learning your opponent's habits.

Admitted early yellow player here, my first tekken since 3, and the reason why i hate eddy is because of the fact that you cant really learn how to effectively fight him through experience, you need to know all of his frames and need to know what hes able to do at all points through his stances. When im in a matchup im not totally familiar with (shaheen) he has enough visually obvious 10 frame punishable moves that i can push the opponent and learn how to make them make poor choices, and once I identify those unsafe oanic moves i can develop through the match and become better at fighting shaheen, with eddy in my experience this is not the case, when i fight eddys i just stand there guarding as best i can due to none of those moves being obviously punishable, and ehen you do float him the pay off in minimal which doesnt make him change due to the damage potential always being in his favor.

Why we hate Eddy: 1) natural bboy windmill launchers 2) 50/50 rivals pauls = strong asf 3) stays grounded 90% of the game 4) 3~4 aka capo slippery kicks

Another great video! Heres a tip for fighting Eddy: if you CH him while he is in his stances it counts as if he is standing! This is why when a good Eddy goes into stance at heavy minus frames (or whiffs into it) they prefer to do nothing and get hit by a tiny attack, rather than mash and risk getting launched.

Big time works very well especially if your in a scenario and you know you going to get hit anyway I always opt to get hit in RLX or Handstand rather than standing I’ll eat 25 damage over 60-70 over my life bar any day of the week 😂 I love the built in. Contingency plans same with Handstand 4 being blocked normally it can be floated with df 1 but if you mash grab your considered standing ( don’t ask me why ) so you’ll only eat standing Df 1 damage so I’ll eat 15 damage df over df into a float that takes away 30-40 of my health bar these things on top of his quirkinesses really demoralizes players 😂😂

Good point. I'm already aware of the fact that a lot of Eddy's moves makes him considered airborne and that his handstand and negativa (relaxed) stance does as well. Well negativa use to be considered airborne in T5 vanilla because I remember always hitting Hwo's df+3+4 air throw on him everytime he drops into negativa, but since then they changed the property of it. I am also aware of dmg scaling, but I guess I never put two and two together in that if Eddy is often airborne than any punish would result in dmg scaling. I've always thought it just means free conversions into combos, but didn't realize dmg scaling would effectively eat away at the dmg potential. I guess that is something to keep in mind.

I was a Jin Kazama main when T3 came out, then I switched to Eddy Gordo, and I found Eddy to be very addictive. You are right, Eddy's unorthodox nature makes him hard for opponents to understand. I never considered that his relaxed position puts him in a state where he gets reduced damaged. I always thought that the fact that he was put in a launched state when hit during relaxed was primarily a bad thing, but now I see that it may not be. Eddy is also a great counter poker because so many of his moves have these long reaching limbs: this includes his punches and kicks. Another thing with eddy is that many of his attacks seem to move his "hurtbox" or "hittable box" out of the way. Moves that come to mind are his Relogio, Au de Bico, Palmares Gio, Heran Bago, Twister Mirage, Barbed Wire, Meia-Lua de Compasso, etc. The big ones that come to mind are his Asfixiante, and Roundhouse.

Good video. For Steve main, I recommend to keep close to him and bully him endlessly with your jab starter combo mix up. If your opponent doing his Eddy's stance while away from you especially at mid range just interrupt it with sonic fang(df+1+2) or beatdown(f,f,2) But the best option is to chase him down with jumping jab(uf+1) and quickly just use your jab starter combo mix up after that.

If you block a transition into relaxed, you always get a punish, what you see with jeondding and advanced Capo's is because of that, they'll go directly into relaxed from 2 or 2 1/2 range to relaxed or handstand, to then do the foward roll into relaxed right in your face, then if u don't immediately attack, they'll confirm and use the relaxed 5050 immediately. This is probably the biggest difference between good Capo's and bad Capo's, and everyone has to be ready for it if you wanna get gud

Frame, I was wondering about the concept of airborne state/health “increase” in this video. Specifically, does Yoshimitsu benefit from this similarly if not to the same level as Eddy does due to all of Yoshi’s stances?
@yarinice14 жыл бұрын
No. Yoshi stances are strictly optional. Eddy will fall on the floor if you mash for any amount of time. You can get into it accidentally.
@gtothee57234 жыл бұрын
Urine glad I got a comment to this, but I still believe it to be true. For example, Yoshi WR2, 1 (launch to fly stance) can only be punished while Yoshi is airborne for less damage
@yarinice14 жыл бұрын
Sure, Yoshi benefits from it, but simply not to the massive extent that Eddy does. So massive, in fact, that I believe it hurts the balance of the game. If you punish WR2, 1 you'll get a float combo which will probably be pretty weak if you don't know the matchup (which you probably don't) but that's a different issue. Meanwhile, punishing a move that puts Eddy in the lovely and balanced Relax stance will net you a frustrating average of under 10 points of damage and absolutely no Okizeme. It makes me want to wail and flail.
@gtothee57234 жыл бұрын
Urine I getcha. I play as King now, and am always just wondering if I have a better option to punish those relaxed stance moves. I’m sure some characters have moved that can “pick him up” ?

@@gtothee5723 I'm a King main too though I play a ton of Hwo. Maybe King could pick up Eddy after some moves with a frame perfect CD>1WR4? I watched players like Spero Jin, Jeondding, even knee play eddy honestly and still do amazing well do to eddy very good moves available to him. (Example : Df2, SS 4, df4 Etc.) By no means do I believe you are wrong (You who have played tekken far longer than I have) , but those players I see doing all the crazy and unorthodox transitions with eddy tend to be lower rank to vanquisher players at best. Tho you did highlight the most common dislikes (Which is 100% sounded) about the player I feel that isn't the eddy player's fault but rather the person playing against fault for not knowing. Joshua Mwaniki Kaz above Heihachi? If anything it's the other way around. - f4 into df12 is guaranteed AND wallsplats if you hit f4 on a crouching opponent. - db2 is an awesome unseeable low that you can use to scare people into crouching then do above. - b2 is a safe mid that has similar starting animation to db2 so can catch people out. - f1b2 is a safe high/mid with meaty damage output. - It's much easier to do more damage either with or without walls after EWGF than Kaz. - Shadow step when you have a life lead can ruin opponents momentum and tied with the threat of wavedash EWGF you can timer scam. - df1/df11/df12 in general are solid tools. - His 112 wallsplats unlike Kaz/DVJ. - His 12f punish (f1+2, qcf2) is the most damaging in the game. - uf34 launches and is + on block. - His f3 is like a buffed version of Kaz's df3. - ff2 for easy input long range launch. The Main Man is a Mishima main and put DVJ at S tier, Heihachi and Jin at A tier and Kaz at B tier. Kaz is easily the weakest Mishima in the game.

My guess would be that he's a grumpy old man, doesn't like change and is good enough that he could beat most people blindfolded anyway.

Well the only reason why I dislike Eddy is because he’s just very annoying. Not because he’s spamming or anything like that. I love the character thought, design is cool, unique fighting style, great character development, he’s one of my favorite characters in Tekken it’s just playing against him makes me sad. Still respect Eddy players though.

You didnt describe why he makes you mad. This is the problem, just blind rage with no explanation

I understand the pain. I've caused such pain, and its satisfying.
