Majority of photographers do not realize the technological advancement that Global Shutter is. Sony's roadmap for all of their future cameras are going to be Global Shutters now. It's going to greatly help me with photographs and videos because I mainly gone E-shutter more than M-shutter today. Especially for video that will help stabilize my handheld footage that I can carry less gears while getting great stabilize footages. GS is the next advancement of camera technology.

I am excited for this camera but I am even more excited for the next Sony a1, I believe that if they can find a way to add the global shutter in with a mechanical shutter+ high mp+rapid shutter speeds+ the new flip screen, and great video features, it will be a dream come true

Global shutter sensor technology will push the limits of hybrid cameras well into the future. The original A9 received plenty of criticism on message boards and KZfaq when introduced but ultimately proved to be a landmark design. Stacked sensor technology appears in every flagship camera made by Sony, Canon and Nikon now. Expect the same with global sensor technology. Moreover, it's hard to imagine what the state of interchangeable lens camera's would be if Sony didn't get involved 17 years ago. Would we still have flapping mirrors and huge camera bodies as heavy as a brick? Possibly.

As a sports photographer, this is HUGE to me. The biggest advantage to me is that the viewfinder won't blackout while taking the picture. We do a lot of photography for all star cheerleading competition. In 2.5 minutes we need to take around 250 images of 25-30 athletes flipping and running around a floor. A lot of times they disappear out of frame completely while the screen is blacked out and at 200mm it takes a second to reframe missing valuable shots. The other great thing would be no moving shutter since we put so many actuations on a camera during a season. We'll be buying one when it's available. We're literally their target customer for it.

I'm getting your point but black-out-free camera has been introduced by Sony in 2017. It was A9, after that A92 and A1. You do not need to have global shutter for black-out-free EVF - stacked sensor is good enough for it.

@@lewcehjitl3282 Even without updates the a7SIII has literally no alternative outside Sony, not even close. I filmed in very dark situations and through many dodgey stuff. The only thing that I couldn't overcome is dodgey LED's which a9III solves. I would need at least 2-3 more cameras and I think the a7SIII will still be with me for at least another 5 years. Most competitors are shit and have deal breaking flaws no update gonna fix that. Canon for example is locking 10bit to CLog, wobbly senors, gopro-level dynamic range outside log. Even without any updates Sony cameras at their core just work perfectly. Could they improve with updates? Yes. Do other brands offer better deals? Hell no, not to mention 3rd party lenses blockage.

My main problem with A93 is that I do not want upgrade from a9 to it. I was hoping for 24mpix (maybe 33) with new menus, AI AF and stacked sensor. Now a93 looks almost like a new line of cameras. Perhaps Sony will introduce stacked sensors in A7 line, perhaps next A7v will have it? :-)

@pawelmod3292
@pawelmod3292 5 ай бұрын
@@harryvuemedia5106 it is not taking step back. Current a7 line has bsi-cmos not-stacked sensors. My point was that a7v could get bsi stacked sensor. That would result having: A9iii low res GS A7v medium res stacked A7rv high res bsi not stacked A1ii hmm, high res stacked, high res GS? Let’s wait and see, but I would love to have a good successor of a9i/ii with a stacked sensor - i do not want pay extra for gs.
@harryvuemedia5106
@harryvuemedia5106 5 ай бұрын
@@pawelmod3292 It would definitely be a step backward for Sony. Only reason why i can think of them not putting a GS in the a7R and A7 series is because of the cost to produce them. But they have to now considering they have the sensor for it. Think about it? What will make the future a7V better than the a7iv? What will make the future fx3-ii better than the fx3? And what will make the future a7RVI better than the a7RV? Stacked CMOS sensor is great but there is no more point in it. Even if the future a7RVI and a7V can't do 60 fps, at least 20 fps will be great enough already. Just having a global shutter is damn good enough already. Future a1-ii will have a Global Shutter or else there is no point in releasing a flagship camera that cannot beat the A9iii. Sony's roadmap is now global shutter and once again i will have to upgrade my cameras to these global shutters.

BUT if it means that global shutters are finally going to start trickling down into consumer cameras that's exciting and will open up all kinds of cool opportunities for innovation. I can't wait to see global shutters in the sub $2500 bracket....but I doubt that's gonna happen anytime soon. We can't even get the super fast type a cards down in price....

@@harryvuemedia5106 the stacked sensor didn't make it in to any other cameras apart from the A1. Not the A7, A7R, A7S, AC, ACR, all the vlogging cameras. So on that basis I'd be surprised a GS trickled down in to cheaper cameras.

Here's why the A9III is NOT the ideal high speed / action camera and my take from a wildlife / birds in flight shooter stand point:, 24 mpxs are not enough when shooting bird's feather detail and animal eye detail, 45mpxs in Nikon Z9/Z8 better, a whole lot better, base ISO 250 again no bueno ( 64 much better on Z9/Z8), no rolling shutter and blackout?(Z9/Z8 no rolling shutter and no blackout also), No banding?(Z9/Z8 no banding also), Pre capture ? (Z9/Z8 also does it already!), Only real life advantage is high speed flash sync speed IF one actually needs it but in our genre we hardly ever use flash. Then you'd have to deal with poorer DR. , ergos, menus, colour science, build quality , support and much much higher price than the Z9&Z8.The Z9/Z8 also have no shutter box to worry about shutter count limit .Therefore Nikon's Z8/Z9 are still king in our genre. I strongly believe that the global shutter is the way forward yes, and all brands will most definitely embrace it in the near future, but it needs to be married to higher mpxs , and better ISO / DR . Did Nikon actually force Sony into going down the global shutter count route just to compete with what the Z9/Z8 offer in terms of rolling shutter/ banding/ no blackout issues??? Whatever the reason it probably will be the trigger for others to follow and we have to welcome the new era in tech because the global shutter is indeed a big leap into the future but right now i believe its still early days with lots of room for improvement!

Christosphillips, this is where I agree with you, that base iso of 250 will take some getting use to and it will have an effect on dynamic range especially in bright conditions until individuals get use to it. I can even see problems in flash photography with an iso this high. I shot Nikon primarily up until 5 years ago and went into the z series, not the new ones like you have. I love Nikon still, but Sony was the right camera at the right time offering a unique move to professional video for me that only Canon offered. Sony offered lens choices from different manufacturers that no one else did. It was for me the only obvious choice moving forward. People have been shooting birds in flight and other wildlife, sports editorial photography on Nikon d4,d5, d6, Canon 1DX mkii, Canon 1DX mkiii, Sony A7III, and Sony A9 and getting fantastic images. The thing that all of these cameras that I mentioned have in common is lower megapixels. You don’t need 45mp, you might want them, but with programs like topaz and the like, they are not needed. Mark Smith from KZfaq has taken outstanding bird in flight photos and made instruction videos with the Sony A9, a 24mp camera. Now do I know having more megapixels makes cropping easier, yes it does, but like other forms of photography, knowing your subject, becoming familiar with the camera and the subject patterns, especially with fast action helps mitigate cropping, but doesn’t eliminate the need for it. The Sony A1 is the match for the Z9 and Z8. The Sony a9III has surpassed even the need for a Sony A1 at $500 more. Sony will have to reduce the A1s $6500 price tag. The Sony A9III has rendered the A1 largely insignificant because even though the A1 has a firmware update coming, the A9III has the new processor, features and screen. The A9III isn’t for everyone, but it will enable the right skilled photographers to get shots that were not possible before. Holy cow to embarrassing moments everyone. The Nikon Z8 and Z9 are great cameras and Nikon has did a 100 percent turn around with firmware updates and lenses, but the Sony A9III is next level and it will change the camera industry like no camera before it and yes people will get use to and compensate for that 250 iso (ouch) as they learn the camera inside out. The dark horse in this race will be Canon because the R1 is coming and will not have a global shutter, but I think Canon will do everything possible from their standpoint to mitigate the benefits or need for one. What makes this special isn’t the Sony A9III itself, but what Sony and others will do going forward, specifically Sony with the Global Shutter with marked improvements for there other lower priced bodies. This is Sony first global shutter and I’m sure they will improve it and probably get the iso down to 100.
