I just had a high anxiety moment. My landlord just raised my rent by $200 a month. I’m retired and on a fixed income. I had just readjusted my budget, chopping my food budget mercilessly, and now I “felt unsafe” in my finances. He’s also very demeaning when he talks to me. I’ve been at this place 10 years and never late with rent. All of a sudden I was having a stomach ache, chest tightness and couldn’t breathe. I had just finished Johns book. So I remembered this anxiety was only a symptom. So I sat down and thought about it, logically looked at my options. And I called a realtor, I found a house, a better area for a retiree, and this will drop my monthly payments by a lot. And the Realtor treated me with such respect and humanity. Looks like my Christmas present this year might be a different, more affordable, house.

Hey george. Love your content. But hate your word game. It gets very distracting from the main content. As in, you already keep the content fun and light. You dnt need these extra distractions. Instead of paying attention to what your guest was saying, I kept waiting for the word.

No, we are broken human beings. We can fix ourselves with psychology. Everything we will ever need l, God has already provided for us in the finished work of Christ on Calvary.

You don't even need to be in debt. You can still lose the house you own if you lose your job. We also have to pay for schooling, clothes, food, car maintenance. etc. Savings only go so far. When I lost my job I had to sit down and calculate how long I had to find another job before my children would be kicked out of school and I'd no longer be able to feed them.

When you grew up/live in chaos for so long your mind cannot comprehend stability. You have to re-set your brain to learn that you are safe. Dave Ramsay’s philosophy is a good place to start.

Anxiety is fear of the future (events that have yet to come). Depression is past events affecting the present. Once you know the difference, it easier to help. Fear of the future is real. We see it in almost all patients in the hospital. Money fear- is anxiety that the next bill will have a wolf at the door asking for all of it back now.
