I've been looking through the comments and I feel as though I am one of the youngest here! (I'm 16) and I am so truly and utterly grateful to be learning these lessons and understanding how to put myself first and care for myself, so that one day I could pass this on to the younger generation so that they can learn at an even younger age. I grew up learning that putting others first was being good, I am thirty eight now and it is so hard to change myself. I tried to put myself once and it felt so strange and I felt so selfish and after sometime I find myself in the same track again. My marriage failed because I put myself in a continues stressful work environment because I didn’t know how to say no, I had no time for myself; to do the things I like and to beautify myself. My ex started to loose interest in me, and that escalated things to divorce. I blamed everything on my ex before but now I understand that it was all me. I didn’t teach myself to say no, to take care of myself and to put myself first. Thank you so much you are an angle 😘😘😘😘😘

This is so important. So many of us neglect ourselves and serve everyone else even if it's painful. When our cups are empty we cannot truly pour into anyone. Self-love is what many of us need to work on. When you love yourself, you set time aside to take care of yourself.

When I was teen, I tried to do more for myself, but over time, people have made me feel like I was being selfish and evil for doing so, so I started feeling Guilty and felt like I didn’t deserve good thing, started doing more for everyone and not my self, I’m drained now, I’m a mother, one 8 month old and another on the way😔

I’m learning to stop feeling guilty about putting my first self. It’s not an option it’s a necessity. Un-learning old habits of putting others before me.

Thank you for this wonderful video! Many of us were indeed brought up thinking that putting others first was the right thing to do if you wanted to be a good person. I tried is so hard and ended up in a dark place mentally. I really thought I could take care of others first and after that of myself, but of course there was always something else that needed my attention. It's been now 14 years that I've been recovering and even though I still stumble here and there I feel very strongly I am progressing, and I have progressed so much that it feels like a miracle.

He's come back, so now imma make him beg for my attention because i have like 10 other guys asking me out out of the blue

My reason is the distructive education I received since I was a child. I had to consider what other would have thinked about my choices and actions. I had to give care to others and to respect them even when they didn't care about me. And I had to respect men, to forgive them, etc, etc. Urania, please make more videos about this topic.

Society makes like it's mandatory to put others first so when we put ourselves we feel as if we are being selfish. But it's like you said: "we can't save anyone if we don't save ourselves"

There's a difference in not taking the time yourself due to guilt, and not having access to the time or able to pursue it because of other outside sources or priorities... that don't alot the time or want to share the load. This is usually due to either kids, your job, or lack of support from other adults willing to allow the pursuit of yourself. A person usually feels guilty because someone made you feel that way

Exactly I did put myself first. Then at 27I had my Son in . Other good Real friends had children out of school. But that is when I Sacrificed my life for my child to Single Mom to remarrying but always a goal getter achiever !! Always helping those in need. Family 1st .Yes!! But become a Sacrifice of to long 33 yrs. Back to SELF 1ST!! Volunteering to Gardening EXACTLY as I've done since loss of Mom. Trying to move on now. I haven't always put myself first because I had the worst self concept. I didnt believe that i was worth anything cause all my traumatic interactions with ppl kept playing like a movie (which i didnt like). Its now in a better place but I still struggle; it was like self-care was foreign and really taking care of myself wasn't my language.
