Why You Should NEVER Dive Alone (This Could Save Your Life)

4 жыл бұрынA few weeks back I was invited to join a few of my buddies on an oil rigs dive. Everything was fun until something scary happened. Do yourself a favor, and take this free diver safety course: bit.ly/DiveSafety
On a dive, my buddy got stuck on his reel and dive bag while a fish was anchored up around a pilon. He was already low on air and couldn't cut free.
Thankfully his reel gave way and he was able to push with whatever energy he had left to get to the surface. I was trying to keep my eye on another buddy, but when I saw what was happening I was able to grab him under his armpits and keep him floating as his head rolled back.
I pinned him against a pilon until he woke up.
Things I should have done but didn't:
1. Remove his weight belt immediately
2. Dove down sooner to help him up
Oil rig diving can be dangerous because the bottom is 200+ feet deep...no one is going to get you if you sink.
Thankfully we all returned home this trip.

@@castandspear don't care if you come back, especially a solo dive at night.. HAHAHA.. dumb idea, don't do it people.never dive alone unless you don't mind the body washing up someplace. one thing I can tell you, if you do solo dive (AGAINST ALL ADVICE, DUMMY!), don't go deep, stay close to shore, go in good conditions, if anything isn't perfect, STAY OUT... my .02

@Arwyn could be.. just take it easy and enjoy.. I never dove deep at night solo (keep in mind, deep for me is 30 ft.. lol), just kept it shallow and enjoyed what I saw.. the knife to an angel shark that was sleeping was always special.. lol

Shallow water blackout is nothing to mess around with... Always dive with a partner that knows the signs and knows how to do and support a rescue of a fellow diver, always good to have two or more fellow divers. I’ve lost two fellow divers to shallow water blackout unfortunately they were not diving with me and my normal crew, one were during a break at a Coast guard school of a four day weekend trip somewhere in Mexico, and the other while diving with his family during a beach picnic, apparently no one diving with them knew the signs and were not able to rescue them... my friend Jarret a coast guard cadet couldn’t be rescued because no one could reach him at depths about 60 ft.

you guys eat those fish? all the fish in LB are contaminated, state website recommends not eating them or only having like 1 serving a week or something like that. pretty lame our waters are so dirty.

@@castandspear you went to the long beach oil rig right? LB, long beach. I might be mistaken and it could just be dont eat the fish from the harbor, cant remember off hand but I know for sure they dont recommend to eat the fish.

Oh sorry I always think of Long Beach as LBC. Ya I eat the rig fish since they are pretty far away from the harbor.
