I like the idea of that filter holder, much less messing about than with adapter rings, which are a right pain to use especially this time of year with cold fingers!

Yeah, or buying loads of different size filters. I'm going to be using this going forward though. Will hopefully be a little less juggling when I'm out and about! Thanks for watching Dave. 😊

That was a remarkably interesting video Robert, I like the look of the H&Y ND filters a good system and easy to use when in the field. Terrific way to reduce that noise which is present in the shadows. Keep up the excellent work.

Many thanks John. Yes, I was surprised by how much it helped with the noise. Seems like there's still life in the old school methods yet! Cheers for watching. 😊

Great demonstration Robert. I've never used ND grads much until recently. You give some very compelling reasons to use them vs using the linear gradient tool in Lightroom, which I'm also finding to be true in my own experience. And now with the ease of use of the magnetic NDs, I have been using them more and more and have been very happy with the results! Great stuff as always mate! Hope you are doing well!

Cheers mate. Yeah, I can imagine the grad filters would work really well for seascapes. I probably need to invest in a hard grad for that. I'm going to try to stick to using the physical filter where possible and just use Lightroom when I need to minimize the amount of equipment I'm carrying. Thanks for watching. 😊

Well demonstrated, Robert. I know one very popular KZfaq photographer doesn't use them, but it seems more sensible to get it right in camera.

Well it's new to me and I almost always do things in software usually. It does really help with the noise though, so I'm going to stick with this, where possible. Cheers Andrew. 😊

Trying to catch up on all the videos. A grad filter is definitely a handy wee thing to have in the bag. Nice video on it.

Should have used your dof preview , i dont edit photos (not allowed ) so use 150x170mm fiters regular , theyre great get your exposure right , dont rely on laptops to do your work , you may learn some photographic skills

Everything is a tool at the end of the day Joe. I think it's an advantage to know how to use as many as possible. What's the relevance of DoF preview in relation to exposure?

So it’s that dilemma of bracketing and merging in post or do it in the field with the grads! Must admit Robert I probably do 50/50 - like you said it depends on space in your bag and is sometimes the case where time Is if the essence and taking multiple exposures for the scene is less faff than putting the grad on - although with this magnetic gear it looked pretty quick. I have the Lee filter system so takes a bit more time to set Up - anyway all the best and have a good week ahead

Yeah, it's definitely situational. I think the Lee filters will work with the Revoring, so might be worth looking into, if it makes it quicker and more convenient to attach them. Thanks for watching Andrew. 😊

Good Evening from NZ, I was a keen user of grad filters, and eventually gave up using them in favour of using the post processing option! I always felt the camera RAW graduated filter tended to be a harsh and obvious! since the recent upgrade of Photoshop, I'm enjoying using the sky detect and subject detect options! I'm finding the reducing the exposure of the sky creates a dramatic sky and brighting the subject with the subject detect! while these things are not foolproof I think it's creating a better image!

As I said in the video Tony, up until now I've used the post processing method exclusively. At the end of the day, you've got to do what works for you. Most of the time you're not going to notice the extra noise when doing it in software - but perhaps if cropping heavily or printing the images out, the physical grad filter is going to produce cleaner results. Your images always look great, so your method is obviously working! 😊

@@Robert-Bishop Thanks Robert! To be honest I have just posted a couple of images from an old video, which when i look at it the shadows are very grainy! I've never used exposure blending, perhaps thats the way forward! with the grad filter
