I don’t badmouth any special ops troops; they are all dedicated men. I’m army retired and flew Seals, Green Beret and other units, some of whom weren’t officially there(according to their government) in RVN. One thing I do know is that when the Seals said an LZ was cold for a pickup it was graveyard cold. We NEVER took fire on a Seal pickup. I loved flying those guys.

A few tours back as a detachment of GSBAT (Gravy Seal Basement Assault Team) I once performed the hallowed "Navy Seal Gravy Steal" maneuver successfully one-handed under water in under 11.5 parsecs. To this day there are still rumors circulating that several of the women in the surrounding area immaculately concieved that night. In all seriousness, our SEALs are awesome and one of the most elite groups of soldiers in the history of humanity. This video's premise is way off because anyone who even considers messing with them is already too far gone.

The Navy's Basic was nowhere near as physically and mentally demanding as the SEALs training. (BUDs). Although, i feel if the Navy SEALs had the Marine Basic Training, or the Army Basic Training, the selection rate for the Navy SEALs would sky rocket. I really dislike how people say the Navy Seals are the best, just because some Movies that say "Based On a Real Story" make it seem so badass. every Special Force are Badass, just that they have different Tasks. Navy SEALs happen to be Counterterrorism, and do it more often. making them more popular in news when a terrorist is killed. (for example, Osama Bin Laden). The Marine Raiders, or the Green Berets. Are better trained for combat, but happen to have different Tasks, which usually is more undercover. The Marine Raiders, and the Green Berets, also do Counterterrorism, just not as often. This comment is not to demean the Navy SEALs, their training is rough. just wanted to share my opinion and hopefully shed light on the other amazing Special Forces.

Navy seals are overly talked about in my opinion, no spec ops groups of SOCOM should be compared, they all have different jobs and are the best in the world at what they do. That’s why our spec ops are the most successful

There are men wearing sandals in Afghanistan that disagree. Highly trained & extremely well equipped & supported yes for sure, very good soldiers but not the best warriors, life in 1st world countries is too easy, don’t have the conditions to produce real warriors, take away the tech & they’d get exposed, like what happened to Mark Lutttels team in Afghanistan, they had no air support to rescue them & didn’t have what it takes to outrun or fight those mountain men.

I remember watching an ex SAS guy talking about the seals, he didn’t rank them as his equivalent but below, he ranked Delta as being tier one special forces like the SAS, not seals, Mark Luttrell’s 4 man seal team got wiped out by less than 15 Taliban fighters in the mountains, the video show 7 fighters in the aftermath.

You would have to speak to your career counselor or commanding officer about your interest in the Seals. Depending on many factors like if you meet the basic physical requirements, academic requirements, time of service, good standing with your current branch etc if everything checks out They'll put in a request to have you transferred and from there it would just be lengthy paperwork. Keep in mind that if you try to leave they will try to persuade you to stay(it's only natural after all you are one of them so They'll see if they can coerce you to stay if your mind is set on leaving then They'll rap it up)

So are other units. Gurkhas have a well deserved rep. ROK Marines are known as being hard as coffin nails.

The SAS is a tier 1 unit. SEALS are a tier 2 unit. DEVGRU and Delta Force are equal to the SAS as operators and antiterrorism. They do different things however, so they aren't exactly comparable.

I was regular infantry and recon later on in my career. Navy seals are usually second best at everything. That's why they get so much hate. They are top 2 or 3 at everything. That being said, recon marines still do VBSS (pirate shit) better than them. And the best cqb, direct action hostage shit was always green berets.

1982 to 1988 VS-41 and VS33 AZ2 I would drive the strand up from Imperal Beach every morning and I would drive by the Seal training camp and you could see them out in the surf running with a big log over there heads ..takes a special type of man to do this job and I have the utmost respect for all of them..
