I'm a Sportster 1200 rider. Age 64. Been riding on the street for 48 years. Never crashed, never been in a physical altercation with another rider/driver, but I have had a lot of 4 wheel operators try to kill me. It goes with the territory. If you are a new rider, that is the biggest challenge you will face. Just about anybody can learn to ride a motorcycle in a parking lot on an empty street. Dealing with 4 wheeled vehicle operators that are trying to kill you is the real challenge when riding on the street. Not all of them will, but some will. It never fails. As you get more experience you can use you experience and skills to try and avoid them, and that works most of the time. About every other time I go for a ride, I get at least one car shoved in my face. I really think that most of them are not doing it on purpose (though some likely are) but the end result is the same. Serious injury or death for you, probably a traffic ticket for them if they are not drunk. I remember in the pilot episode of Then Came Bronson, when Bronson kicked in a car door of a woman that almost hit him, then later hooked up with her. I don't recommend getting involved in road rage, you never know if the other person is armed or not. I am. I live in a Constitutional carry state. But it can escalate to a point where you have no choice but to protect yourself.

100% right, I got recommended this video today after my first "something bad ALMOST happened" incident on a bike. I was on a 2 lane backroad and someone pulled out right in front of me and I'd already moved to the edge of the lane/shoulder and sped up to clear the intersection before they fully entered the lane. I didn't really even process what was happening until I'd already maneuvered to avoid the situation. Afterwards I didn't have any kind of an emotional response.

I remember one time when I was 16 and driving around by my 125cc and being cool and shit, but this one guy changed line on top of me. Had to dodge it and accelerated a bit to make space with all the awesome power that smol engine had to offer. Scared me bad, no lie. This older guy then stopped next to me and started barking me and blaming me for it. Guess what I did? Nothing, nothing at all. I let the guy open his mouth and after was on my way. I had all my adrenaline pumping and was angry as young man can be, but soon later realized that the guy was at least as scared of the close call for hurting a young biker as I was to almost get hurt. And that was his reason for reaction. I am now 38, so it was 22 years back, been driving bikes ever since and never broke a single mirror. Don't do it, we are not enemies.
