Actually accurate, after playing seeds for 3 hours and failing, I started an smp with my friend and there was a village with 10 0bby, golem, 3 emerald, and a lava pool -_- nether was trash tho so it wasnt a total loss

11:42 Hi Couri! So I can explain how the M and C counter works. Essentially, the way you can know if there is a bastion is by seeing if the m and c counter is 30 lower than the right number of the E counter. This happens because piglins that spawn in bastions aren't considered to be Mobs (M) or Creatures (C) by the game, but because the piglins are rendered in, you have thirty or so entities that aren't M or C, so you can identify that they are most likely piglins.

Well he is giving us advice that 1.16.2+ versions are not good for speedrunning. He doesn't mean we shouldn't do it for enjoyment and challenging yourself and he does things that are normally bad for if you are speedrunning for the leaderboards and he is not going for the wr or leaderboards, he is doing it for fun and content

If I'm not mistaken the "M" stands for hostile mobs ence 70 max in vanilla and "C" for passive mobs. The mobs in bastion don't count to mob cap.

Even if they removed brutes which will never happen and reverted bartering rates to 1.16.1 rates, 1.17 would still be slower than 1.16.1. Right now for speedrunning 1.17 is just 1.16.5 with even worse to navigate terrain, I think there would have to he a major positive change to structure generation for there to any chance to have its own category and that is very unlikely.

You actually did it... Thank you so much! Tbh, I saw the piglin brutes and new pearl trades as the obvious ones, (if you’re on 1.11 and decide to upgrade to 1.16, you’ll get 1.12, 1.13, 1.14, 1.15, with 1.16 and all the different versions in between. Here’s two more problems with 1.17 speed running I found: - Lag: with all those high mountains and a mass amount of caves, that’s surely gonna take a toll on your device’s performance. - Big caves. If you ever find yourself in one of those big caves, you might want to be extra careful, as they are basically the equivalent of you in a high rate hostile mob farm. Pray to god a creeper doesn’t blow you up, as Mojang gave us no way to easily light up high areas. (Of course those were my thoughts, and I just wanted to hear yours.)

11:39 C is chest and M is mobs, if they are like 30 or 40 lower than than it then it means that there is a bastion because there are like 30-40 other entities other than the bastion stuff

Maybe 1.17 allachievements% or allmonsters% would be interesting with the warden as a mob (or if it counts as a boss allbosses%) but any% wont be interesting unless there is a major change to the overall strategy from 1.16

Couri in the f3 screen the no.s under your webcam are the mobcaps 1.M:Monsters or hostiles 2.C:Creatures or neutral and passive Also there are others like ambient The idea is if there are no block entities(chests,furnace or stuff like that) then that no. Will equal to total entities

for the 1.17 deep dark loot, there could be eyes of ender in chests, so by doing that, you literally dig down, find the deep dark, and run along, dodging the warden, to the stronghold

For around 20:08, the exact formula is: Distance = 12/tan(angle difference degrees) This distance is the distance from where the first eye was thrown Example: You threw an eye and it went at an angle of 23.6°, then you sprint jumped 4 times 90° of that 23.6° angle. You throw an eye again and it goes at an angle of 24.7°. The distance of the stronghold from where you threw the 23.6° angled eye is 12/tan((24.7 - 23.6)°) = 12/tan(1.1°) = ~625 blocks

Yeah, that is how nuts divine travel is, although it can only be used when you have an easily accessible soul sand fossil at (0,0) so you rarely see it get to be employed in real runs

Day 4 of telling: Couri! I have a seed suggestion 1900225536835345410 1.16.1 You spawn in an island North are 2 shipwrecks and a completable ruined portal, South is 1 shipwreck The 1st shipwreck and the portal are relatively close Once you go in the portal, you spawn NEXT TO a Bastion (Housing which sucks) Has 14 Obi, and a fair amount of Gold The Fortress is 404 blocks away the Stronghold is a pearl away from the fortress (-29,~,275 in the nether then dig down) Could this be a WR seed? Not sure but it's a pretty damn good seed!

It won't be a unanimous thing, some might decide they think the positives of 1.18 outweigh the negatives of 1.17 and play it, some might not and just stick to 1.16.1

I started speedrunning on 1.17.1 and I'm like..this is so hard..how do other speedrunner make it look easy (not saying that their version is easy) sometimes I'll just switch the difficulty into peaceful when I'm entering the bastion cauz the pig with the black dress n golden axe he was talking about can kill me in like 3 shots ..we can't trade with them + if u block his 1 shot u can't block his 2nd shot ..there's like this shield cooldown thing and damn it's annoying ....they are mostly the reason why I fail my runs or use like so much time like 2 to 3hrs

One thing tho; even if the 1.17 is bad for speedrunning, it is still its own category. At least I would like to see the limits of 1.17 speedrunning

atm it doesn't look like it will be very different to 1.16 speedrunning though. A lot of versions have the same category as other close versions, for example all versions before 1.9 are the same category even though they're very different in gameplay. I am interested in 1.17 speedrunning too, I expect at least some people to try it.

1.17 will never be as fast as 1.16.1 for many reasons but all the new stuff coming to the overworld makes running it look like a ton of fun to me. The warden MAY make strongholds more intense, the terrain is more challenging, and archeology may offer some unique, fringe strats.

From experience I can tell that those 1.17 trades are same/similiar to 1.16.5, my friend told me to change to 1.16.1, and I hit my record with only 39 gold

Honestly, I'm still a bit stumped on the pie chart. I know how to switch it to block entities now but it just says 100% unspecified. It doesn't actually give me any other blocks. For an example, he was able to see if there was a blacksmith nearby by checking the block entities around him. Going into creative mode myself, despite being near a blacksmith, I don't get that same indicator. It's just unspecified.

The only reason 1.17 might have any hope of being it's own category is if they sufficiently mess with stronghold generation to recategorize it. It currently generates deeper (which is bad for speedruns because it means more mining and less open exposed) and in the same areas. But it's possible they might change the generation to be biome-specific. Overall, currently the only reason to make 1.17 a category is if it's such garbage for speedrunning that 1.16.5 looks good but comparison.

F3 is probably the most powerful button in minecraft it's hard to learn how to use it, but if you do, you can get a lot of info about your environment without even exploring it

thank god mojand added piglin brutes in 1.16.2. if they were added earlier bastion strats would be completely scrapped and there would be no sub 15 this quickly
