I completely agree with you ....I was on psyche drugs for a long time and they messed me up big time.Once I decided to get off them I started to get better.I improved my diet , added lots of probiotics and went out for a 45 minute stroll everyday .After 6 months I started to feel normal again.

I was prescribed one by my doctor. I was hesitant as hardly ever taken a paracetamol in my life. I picked them up today but I really don't want to start. I have started to eat a lot more vegtables from today. I've always loved nuts, peanuts, fish, generally a fairly decent diet. I think I need more vegetables so had a load today. I will start to eat more yoghurt and kefir too. What other pro/prebiotics are there that you've used? Thanks.

Same JP. I also decided by choice not to take anti depressants. I saw what it did to my mom. It started out little with a quick fix for post mortem depression after pregnancy, then she got addicted to it , tried to get off it 3 times but can't, needed more and more stronger doses etc. ( and this makes sense because anti depressants work the same as drugs - it makes you keep releasing dopamine and serotonin and not retaking it back into the synapses - however you only have so much dopamine and serotonin in your tank, eventually you need more and stronger drugs to get the same high until you eventually overdose, in a depression case - suicide because you have reach the peak of addiction and depletion of your feel good hormones and there is no stronger anti depressants to make you feel better/affect your mood). I am also a firm believer of functional medicine, rather than traditional medicine (taking a pill). I can't tell you how fucking sick I am of these doctors trying to give me pills as a quick fix, whether for anxiety, acne or constipation. When I ask to rather try a more holistic/natural approach before trying the medication route - they laugh at me and cut me off as if I'm an ignorant, misinformed, typical millennial. It fucking hurts. I heard of an interesting study saying that you produce 80% of your dopamine and serotonin in your gut/microbiome. So your gut is essentially your 2nd brain. Therefore not only is it crucial to do exercise, get enough sleep and manage your stress, you have to watch what you eat because it will affect your mood. It just makes sense, if you eat like crap, you feel like crap. Also, check out Mark Hyman on KZfaq - he's a functional medicine doctor with a range of information and podcasts on depression and auto immune deseases and how to heal naturally. Much love from SA, JP. 🇿🇦

They make me sicker, to be honest. I wish I had known what I was getting into when they gave me clonazepam when I was 19, because it’s been hell ever since. There are a few horrors in human life that cannot be comprehend it by people who have not been through them, but that being said I completely support your opinion. I am going to go exercise do I’m not going to listen to yet another doctor randomly forcing now NEWER antidepressants down my throat when ALL antidepressants have made me sick. There was a time when a psychiatrist forced me to take Lexapro for 3 months. And back then I was young so my mum was like okay: Listen to the doctor…. And then what happened to me was that I would throw up every single morning, I wouldn’t sleep, I would lose weight like crazy. I got so then I had to wear two pairs of jeans to go to class. Never again, most of these doctors can’t even see you for longer than 10 minutes and then they think they can tell what’s wrong with you , you’re just a guinea pig, and they give you an antidepressant… it’s insane….I had anaemia, and then she’ll be tracked it and said maybe that’s what it is, but she had said “oh you look low, here take these pills.” And I’m not gonna take them I’m sorry.

Well said, I took them for 2 weeks many months ago and I felt numb and weird on them, luckily I stopped taking them. I don't take them anymore, I still have issues but I wouldn't say that I'm depressed, antidepressants were making me more depressed

Good for you for getting off them. If I ever got in the place where I needed them and I feel like I couldn’t do without, who knows I might take them and then as soon as I can, like you, I’ll get back off them 👌🏼

Great video/speech. As someone who was on antidepressants for a decade+, I agree with everything you said. The terrible thing about antidepressants is the side effects of coming off of them, especially after long-term use, was more excruciating/painful and unbearable than the original problem/reason I took them in the first place. The long term side effects of quitting antidepressants will leave a hole inside you that will take years to heal, and often doctors will tell the patient "...see, that is the medication working, get back on those pills." Another problem I faced was people and doctors telling me that my anxiety and depression was hereditary and not caused by external factors...and I was young and impressionable at the time. This give me feelings of hopelessness and a mindset of "what choice do I have except to take the pills". For me; meditation/breathing exercises, better sleep, exercise, and nutrition replaced the antidepressant.

i completely agree with you. people will assume if you think this than you've never had clinical depression. when often actually these people have experienced serious clinical depression but they found their way out. the way out for them, was through. buddhist teachings on suffering completely changed my mindset about this. Reading spirititual texts and self help books, meditating daily, travelling, constantly pursuing what my spirit needed, listening to my intuition, taking care of body. ovbs not as simple as "got depression well maybe you should excercise" by doing the work he means a myriad of tools, training, habits, mindsets, people, passions, memories, CHALLENGES, consistently and diligently seeking and exploring who you are and what you need in this life until slowly slowly the pieces of you begin to weave their way back into harmony. this is how we heal. i wish no shame on anyone only for them to know that they can heal too. your not as unique as you think.

I took antidepressants and smoked weed for years. One helped mask the negative side effects of the other. Then I ended up with a nervous breakdown at a rough point in my life. That was 9 months ago and I'm still crawling out of the hole those drugs did to me. Even so I feel better now than I did. It's so true, the hard work is the only way out, period.

I absolutely love listening to you! If you see this (though it’s a 4 year old video) please pray for my daughter. She’s suffering from severe anxiety and depression. I have been asking the Lord to guide me. As a mom I have to put her first but my fear is that she will have the same reaction I did to the pills. I’ve been off of them for years and I know God delivered me. I took them when I was suicidal, but being off of them, I feel so free.

@Honest_review85
@Honest_review85 5 ай бұрын
There are people who actually need them long term or permanently. People tried to stop them multiple times and their life was destroyed. So they eventually accepted they would take them forever. Majority of the time people don’t need to take them long term. But for a minority of people that depression runs in their family and also had traumatic child experiences then putting this title is unresponsive. It’s not always man up. For some people it’s not sleeping for weeks and months. Becoming anorexic and suicidal. Saying it’s weakness is a judgement sir. Even though it comes from a caring place it’s still not completely responsible.

also another thing I want to say...(excuse my imperfect English) my husband and I are Deaf. We speak ASL fluently. I remembered I was so fucked depressed. My husband gave me some weed. I got so high and laughed my chest off...I felt SO GREAT. Then next day I was completely healed. I support natural pure weed like THC 100% it works perfectly much way better than those manmade toxic drugs...doctors do not care for their souls but $$$$ greedy. I see too many ppl are walking dead "like zombie land" its horrible. they are not being realistic themselves. So sad /-: thats their lost.

I agree with some that the guy in the video says but that being said, some people get stuck in a terrifying dark place and have bad insomnia too and can’t seem to get out of it, hugging a tree as you say won’t be work for them though it may for you and I agree with being in nature. I do think anti Ds are a bad design with side effects that can make you worse etc

Okay, so you’ve gone through hard times. But have you actually experienced clinical depression? I’m guessing you haven’t. Do NOT tell depressed people to ‘man the fuck up’. It makes the condition worse. I know comes from a good place but please don’t do this to your friend. Once you feel better - don’t go off meds immediately, but take it slow and consult a doctor, otherwise the depression might come back worse.

@@HolyRollerTV It is not a weakness, it's a mental illness. You're not going to tell a person with a broken leg to stop being a pussy and get up, are you? Do not ever say this to a clinically depressed person, or it might just send them over the edge.

Antidepressants are just given to us by the government to help. People are stupid as hell bruh. “Man up” and fucking take a drug because you clearly have anger issues over shit that helps people like myself. I work my ass off to fight suicidal depression due to Asperger’s and social isolation. Don’t tell people to not take the pill. I agree with @SjorsHoukes. You can’t expect people to not judge when you’re putting this out there to people that really need medicated. Work and medicate. I agree with his advice about work, but it’s annoying this is out there because antidepressants are saving lives. The fuck is wrong with that?
