do you find it hard to speak japanese, despite studying for a long time? finding the opportunities to speak japanese can be challenging, especially if you don't live in japan. in this video, i'll be sharing how i became conversational (and achieved a cefr b2 level) within a year of learning japanese, and how you can do the same!

First time I see someone actually teaching how language works. That's how I learned English, by myself.. not sure how but, I guess people just really want to rely on a school or formal exercise instead of actually trying to feel the language.

it is important to listen and shadow to the target language. From that, i have confidence to speak and give feedbacks and then make effort to fix those mistakes. Another intersting thing i have never done is understanding words in the target language, not translating into my mother tongue

japanese is so difficult lol. I am always so busy so its hard to learn consistently but i recently got back into it. I got into learning japanese about 4 years ago on and off because i was busy with undergrad work, then I started working full-time. and then i started grad school half a year ago. I'll be done with grad school next semester tho so im hoping to take the N5 test in december and study for the N4 next July. I know a lot of words and the sentence structure but i wish i was studying kanji, journaling in japanese, and reading this whole time smh, oh well. one thing at a time.

Great channel, I just subscribed Something that really helps me is romaji, I am subscribed to many Japanese channels that use it, in interviews, vlogs, etc I know kanji is really important, but it at the same time way too difficult to learn to read properly and write it as well. It takes too much time, unlike learning with romaji in my case.

romaji is fine if your goal is only to learn a few basics, though if you truly want to progress i'd strongly suggesting moving onto full hiragana + katakana asap then kanji kanji isn't as daunting as it seems at first! i know it scares a lot of people, but with the right strategies it can be seamless. you can start with the basic kanji first, and you don't have to worry about learning to write every single kanji you come across. japanese would not be japanese without kanji so if you truly want to advance then knowing kanji is essential

@@chloedyhe my goal is to speak and listen as best as possible only for now because of my time availability I tried learning the right strokes but with so many kanji, I suddenly decided to put it for eventually in the future So, romaji has been quite useful, I mostly learn from videos and anime, and I know anime uses for the most part unnatural Japanese, but it no doubts encourages me to learn since I get into the stories presented I hope you keep uploading often, maybe even livestreaming, I saw often KZfaqrs make communities that way, and also get donations at the same time, which allows them to grow further as creators

U cannot use romaji it will massively impact your ability to learn japanese. Furigana which is hiragana indicating how kanjis are pronounced is perfectly fine. However you will only limit yourself by reading romaji. I really appreciate that this channel does NOT use romaji as it draws our attention to it since it's what we're used to seeing. Not good

@@thegahd Yea, I know it can be an issue, but at least for focusing mainly on listening Japanese and speaking, I have had no issues. I have assimilated vocabulary, basic grammar, sentence structure, etc. Japanese is actually my 3rd language, and I have learned before that learning how a language works, can help lots, considerably. And I need only to listen and speak to do that in a basic way. Eventually I would get into kanji, for now things are working well. I have been thinking about tracking my progress on videos, since this particular way of learning is not common, but I lack the time to do so. I might eventually time allowing, I know there is way too many people that literally have no time to get into Japanese writing seriously.

@@lmclrain You will only make bad connections in your brain and it can severely impact your end potential in speaking and understanding Japanese. Of course you are allowed to do wht you want but if you care about the culture, and ethymology of the language, not to mention the structure that dissapears by using romaji pronunciations. I recommend instead taking a step back before proceeding, hiragana is not hard at all and kanji comes over time. But it requires you do not use romaji it disrupts brain pathways for learning Japanese

Practice makes perfect. You need to speak in a language in order to get better at speaking said language! You don't close that textbook one day you have been studying with for the past few years, get up from your chair and magically start speaking your target language fluently. You need practice!
