Nice vid!! I was watching Monster Jam back in 2003 and would see Tom Meants truck kicking around a turn in racing and noticed he didn't have a sway bar on his truck. He used chains back then, he would stomp on it coming out of the turn and would pull the front chains tight and keep it level, coolest thing. That man was definitely on a mission, LOL.

He got another Vegas win a year or 2 ago, seven total I think for racing. He was so focused he would shoo away the cameras while he was sitting in his truck. When he won, he rubbed it in, that everybody got beat by a 10 year old truck. It was Great!! Not only did he beat Anderson, He sure as hell beat Unbeatable Linsey too.

+MaRoder Dave Thats one hell of a match up. I haven't seen enough of meants driving to say who is better. But you gotta give it to Dennis for always pushing the limits
@prancstaman

Dennis and Tom is legendary on the track and freestyle against each other, always trying to beat each other. Best thing about them both, between rounds when working on the trucks, if one truck really needs help getting back on the track, the other crew would help out getting the work done. They both with their crews helped each other out in the pits, when they drove out onto the track, they both did everything possible to keep their trucks together even if it meant helping the other guy. The attitude was, "If they was going to be beat by the other guy, it was because the other guy out drove him, not because the truck was broken". And when the light turned green, it was war!!, LOL.

I came up w/new tech mixer /whisk tech & spokes of bicycle tires. The key on back of whisk can easily b made to fit a tie rod link, & u can go to frame esp in back rather then link from 1 side to the other. Needs refining but the basic idea is there.

Jake, it's flattering time. You know your business. It's like you know just what to say to make things actually make sense, even the complicated items like angles and such for dom tube chassis and links. Anyways, watched your video after previously watching 11 and yours made the most sense. However, Would have really enjoyed the explanation of how to accurately adjust these. I'm a little stumped on my install for the XJ. Think I know what I'm doing but would rather watch someone else do it 1st correctly. Preciate it.

adjust a sway bar? You either have to drill new holes in the arm or put the sway bar in a lathe and take material off

I Like slow crawling and exploring. Do i need a swaybar. Speed and offroad dont go together unless you love replacing ball joints and crap. 1990 bronco. I also get alot of neck and head jarring going over rocks and stuff. Is the sway bar causing that teeter tottering?

After I removed the sway bar on my LC200, articulation improved tremendously however the wheels are rebounding much faster somes abruptly causing the vehicle to unsettle, is this because removing the sway bar causes the A arms to be free?

did you know that if you require more than two turns of preload on a coil spring you must go to a stiffer coil? Super important.
@BustedKnuckleVideo
@BustedKnuckleVideo 8 жыл бұрын
+RedWhiteandFU Daddy depends on how much preload you are after.
@longzook
@longzook 8 жыл бұрын
+RedWhiteandFU Daddy Its my understanding a lot of people are running 2-3 inches of preload to help with rebound in the last few inches of down travel. running zero preload or close to it you are allowing gravity only, to get the shock to the bottom of its travel add to that rebound dampening and the last 2 inches of travel will slow up a lot. this is where the 2-3 inches of preload comes to play, forcing the last few inches to extend a little quicker. you can also setup your secondary stop to help with body roll as well...I'm sure these fellas have done the work and know what they need
@redwhiteandfudaddy1938
@redwhiteandfudaddy1938 8 жыл бұрын
+BustedKnuckleVideo any more you get into coil bind limiting full travel on compression. unless you guys run springs made for longer travel than your using. I've gone to suspension courses by Fox, Marzocchi, Elka, to name a few. Springs are super critical to shock performance as you know. I used to use my own coil spring rate tester to test the actual rates of coil springs and use matched sets which cost huge investments to assemble the correct number of varying rates and sell the ones i didn't use. They're never ever what the rate printed on them say, usually they are +or- 20 to 50 pounds either way. Just because you use 2 turns of preload on each rear shock doesn't mean they're the same preload because you haven't found each true rate.
@redwhiteandfudaddy1938
@redwhiteandfudaddy1938 8 жыл бұрын
+longzook preload is ONLY used for sag. nothing else. If you only have two circuits per shock (R and C) you find the correct rate spring you need for weight of vehicle and desired sag. Then set PL to acheive sa Then you set V first by starting at full hard and back off until you like it click by click. Then set R same way. There is no other way to do this properly. If you have High and Low speed circuits for C and R ( HSC, LSC and HSR and LSR) then it's a little different.
@redwhiteandfudaddy1938
@redwhiteandfudaddy1938 8 жыл бұрын
+BustedKnuckleVideo of you need more than two turns you need a stiffer coil. Like I said, unless you're running a coil length for a longer stroke damper. Which could damage your damper on C and R by over extending or bottoming out harshly. You run limiters though I assume.

I enjoy watching the video's but can you tell me why it is fitted on the rear as the major mass is on the front I get the ultra4 buggies are rear engine mounted so the swaybar is by the major mass also would it matter where the tube is mounted inboard like the one on your video or out board like a ultra4

+Andrew Weston Thanks for watching. packaging a sway bar on the rear is easier for us. Also we want the front to take a hit and do what it needs to do while the rear stays planted. This helps on hills

Busted Knuckle Films yup it’s the future ...just like coil overs where over mono shocks and leaf springs. I’m sure back in the day they said the same thing .... with the expanded reservoirs it is a way more versatile system . I’ve seen them change recoil rates on the fly with a remote controlling the rebound on both strokes.....you’d have to spend hours at a pit to change or adjust your spring rates.....like I said get with the times or fall behind
