A lot of people looking into this field are worried that they might regret choosing to pursue this. Here is my personal experience on why I do NOT regret being an Environmental Engineer.
1) Job market
Yes, the job perspective is small now but that just means there is room to grow in the future. We know that the environment is not in a sustainable trajectory, so we will be in high demand once people realize that the environment is important.
2) Pay
I get paid $82,500 USD a year. That is a good pay for my age, and I am happy with where I am at in life.
3) Humanitarianism and doing the right thing
We are preserving for the future no matter what people say.
4) Not stressful
My work has a good balance between work and life. Yes, there will always be days where it is busy, but that comes with every job. I enjoy what I do and it is not as stressful as some other jobs out there.
