Hello friends! Welcome to the Low-Content Publishing For Beginners Video Series.
Creating print-ready files that are up to spec is crucial for a successful self-publishing experience. Printing a book is a highly technical process, and there isn’t much room for error on our end of things. But time and time again, I receive emails from members of my audience who just can’t seem to get their book covers through the print-checking process.
Fortunately, a rejected cover usually boils down to three issues, all of which can be easily solved!

If you self publish using your own money, you can choose whatever cover you want. I’ve published five books this year and have designed all my own covers. If you’re not willing to use your own money, why should you expect traditional publishers to use theirs?

Don't forget to delete the png template before saving the print ready pdf. I also kept getting a cover error along with a manuscript error. I had 6 pages on a test manuscript, when added over 24 manuscrpt pages, both the manuscript and cover error went away and all was good.

Hi Rachel, I am in the create part of KDP and I’m stuck. I put together my book cover through canva. I have to upload it but there is nothing for me to click on to do it? I’ll take a pic of my screen.

Oh, I wish I’d had this before I hit publish last night! I entered ‘lined notebook’ as the main title and not subtitle. It’s been stuck in review for over 24 hours which is far longer than any of my kindle books ever have been. I have this niggling feeling it’s going to get rejected.

I just put notebook. If no title then you would put what it is. Has to be on cover or spine. I'm trying to do both because it looks more professional. In the sub add if it's lined or not. That's been fine. One actually got past them when I added something. I'm constantly fixing stuff. I have to wait for them for days.

Leo's Universe yes, well really having published 9 fiction books I should have known better!! It’s just my first lined notebook. Having never published low content, I just wanted to test the waters and learn the process. But I also didn’t want to put ‘notebook’ on the cover because It would look strange!

I did my cover in Affinity designer, everything lined up with their guide but when I did the upload, the cover slid down a bit. I did it again with the same result. I remade it in Canva and voila, nothing were moving. I still haven't figured out why my upload slid down. Even if everything were there, their lines weren't filled which gave me a warning.

@@kellymcwilliams9135 I figured it out! So today I decided to revisit this proj because I didnt want my previous work to go to waste. If I uploaded a cover it still didnt work so I clicked on the amazon cover creator and they said upload an image so I uploaded my cover picture. On their cover creator they added a bunch of text or suggestions which I just deleted. So all that was left was my picture. Hopefully it gets approve this time

Thanks madam! Please, after updated my cover, I was showed this: the expected cover size is 17.412×11.250 but the submitted file size is 11.000×8.250. please how do I equalize the cover size with the file size? Thank you.

Please help me! When I start to upload cover on kdp, it starts to upload and then nothing. There is a red exclamation point but no message. I troubleshooted the info you offered. Help! I did in Canva, calculated dimensions.

Great video! Quick question, I followed all of your step to a tee but when I review my cover once it has been downloaded, its extremely zoomed it. What do you think is the problem? KDP also is saying there are no errors.

Question about the book cover.I've seen on Amazon journals some front page cover but no back cover. How can you add the back cover to have the customers see the back cover as well instead of just the front?

Thank you for this video. I'm new to KDP with low content books. I have uploaded 2 books. All goes through just fine. But when the cover preview comes on, the designs I put on the cover are missing. The background of the cover itself is showing. Do you know why this could be happening? Thanks

There has to be a title, but if you don't want to put it on your cover you can put it on the spine instead.

Hi, I am honestly in desperate need of your help - My KDP book cover at times shows white lines on Amazon once approved - This was not the case when I initially uploaded it …I have even gone back to review my upload and none of the lines appear ….I have also contacted KDP directly and am still waiting for a call back

Help! Rejection are made during filling of boxes or after publishing ? And I did not understand the 3rd example : was ok or not the book mentioned ?

Great video as always. By the way I'd like to ask you a question. I uploaded my three books to KDP and they were accepted and now they are available on Amazon. But none of them has "look inside" option. Did I do something wrong during upload or this option will be added later by Amazon. If yes how long usually does it take since book is available on Amazon? I uploaded my manuscript and then the bookcover, both pdfs created on Blurb/Bookwright. The preview shows the bookcover totally distorted with half the content missing, and the following manuscript all moved to the right by 1 page, thereby putting illustrations out of alignment with the text. How can I rectify this? Judy Davies

When I had small cover alignment issues it was because the manuscript was 300dpi but the cover wasn't. Just make sure both are 300dpi first. Not sure if that the issue but thought Id mention it.

Hi Rachel. I am a newbie. Thank you for the great info. I have a question,.... On KDP, are you allowed to use the same cover, or very similar covers, on multiple interiors / books? I am making puzzle books and want to use the same, or very similar covers, for each one that I publish, almost like volume, but single individual books with the same cover :) [ Not to be confused with the same content, multiple covers scenario ] Thanks again

Hi Rachel - trying to upload first workbook to kdp. I did it in powerpoint and when saving as pdf, there is an option to protect the pdf. I had to do this when selling on tpt. Is this necessary, or will it mess things up with fonts? The document seems to upload fine, except for a font issue.

I tried to make one and I ended up having to use a lined manuscript because I received a message that the first two and the last two pages of the book couldn't be blank 🙄 but I really want to make a notebook with just blank pages😂

You have to have a few words for low content books. It cannot just be blank.

Hi Rachel I have an issue when I try to submit my book . Final step of pricing. A pop up message tell me Iike this. We found an issue on your earlier page title setup . But everything is perfect on my side. Title. Description. Keywords. Ande most important thing is my cover and interior everything is done Am really struggling try to. Resolve this issue with so many try but I can't. Any suggestions please 😊

I was wondering if there was any danger from getting book rejections.. I am new to KDP so I did not realise the book title had to be exactly the same as the cover text. I've already had 3 rejections that I fixed and i'm just hoping I don't get banned or something for that.
