I never see anyone recording their swing at my local range. I do every time and used to be quite embarrassed to begin with, but because I’m learning, I’m picking up a lot from looking at my videos and comparing them to what I should be doing! It definitely helps.

Gonna record myself next time I go, only done it when I'm hitting into a net but you don't see the ball flight and what you did right or wrong in your swing.

I record the whole session every time I go. You’d be amazed how much little things creep in every week. It’s a lot easier to fix the small things than it is the big things that have built up over time. Constant swing maintenance.

We don't improve because there is SO much info out there that counters what the other pro says! Lol! We allow ourselves to be micro managed and chase the shiny objects too much! For me it was taking the club away with my left shoulder raising and the left hand rolling over a bit and then learning how to rotate my forearms through impact while getting to my left side. Made my swing easy and repeatable and feels effortless. I know every golfer is built different and has different leverages, but that worked for me. There is too much info out there! Lol!

Exactly my problem, not enough practice with drills, always seeking something..lack of focus on each shot, not enough emphasis on routine, but seeking a routine that works always..

100% excellent and honest advice. Changing a golf swing involves changing the connections between the nerves that send signals to our muscles, (neuroplasticity). This only happens with conscious focus and high levels of effort and repetition (i.e. hard work!). The drills being practiced must be specific and structured to address the desired changes. The challenge is working out the required changes and sequencing practice drills in a logical order. In my own experience Jonathon has been excellent in coaching me with this process via online lessons. My swing has improved markedly while working with Jonathon after years of trying to make swing changes on my own and after multiple lessons with a coach who has multiple European tour pro’s on his books. I give my highest recommendation to Jonathon’s coaching for anyone looking to make swing changes and put in the time and work needed to do this. Oh, and he’s a really nice guy too!

This is so good. I've been working on shallowing the club for quite sometime now. For awhile I felt I finally had it. Then recently I viewed my swing on camera and guess what? Over the top again. I was like not again I thought I had it. So moral, keep doing the drill over and over and over. Who knows we might never stop doing them.

After 6 weeks of work on swing, it finally all clicked in last week. I'm in my late 70s. Man does it feel good to swing effortlessly and see the ball go straight and long. Now my drive is a straight 220 instead of 180 slice. And my irons are straight. Scored 1 off my age. Only problem is I now need to recalibrate my pitch shots. Thank you

This is me right now. I try a concept and drill at the range and I do not see measurable results so I give up. I do not know what drills I need so I get angry and frustrated. Haven't found a good coach and don't have the money for weekly lessons. Very angry watching people be better at me at this for no reason other than myself.

I’d add one more … Not swinging SLOW enough 😏 We all want instant gratification, but a change has to be made gradually. I see people try a swing change once, or a practice swing, then immediately go at it 110% (old habits, hard to break). Everyone wants to take it right to the course. But that FEEL can only be achieved by swinging at 10%, 20%, 50%, etc

Seems to me, we practice mostly things we aren't certain are the right thing. Every KZfaqr out there has a whole other thing to say and so we chase that think that is going to "the move that made me turn pro!" or the "i added 30 yards with this one change!"' We listen to generic instruction from 200 different people who we likely haven't seen play a round of golf. Not sure we are ever gonna get better till we know what we are doing is the right thing to get better.

It’s all about knowing your tendencies to know whether a video applies to your swing.
@justbreakingballs
@justbreakingballs Жыл бұрын
Drills are a nonsense, most time they try to isolate the swing in mechanical stages and break it down when it's one motion. Most ameteurs don't need drills. Better players and pros need drills because drills are fine tuning whats there already. Most players need to learn to swing the club and need to practice and play. Over practice of drills is a problem and overthinking even more. Swinging the club at the ball is the best thing to do, if drills were so good and the golf swing is so easy to break down then a couple of drills and you would be done. Another is practicing some nonsense of KZfaq that was never going to improve your swing, just look at at the different ways the pros swing. That alone shows no fixed golf swing exists, so you may be moving your knee bending your wrist turning your hip etc etc as instructed off some video and it was never going to work for you. Most people want to learn how to swing the club but they need to find their swing. Hours at the range trying to keep a straight arm when your arm bends isn't going to do it. Swing the club at the range, stand too close to the ball, then stand too far away and hit a few, swing the putter at a few like an iron and see what happens, try to hit 10 shots as fast as you can then try to slow the swing, try to slice it then try to come down the inside so much it shoots off to the right, try to hit a few walking up to the ball, try to hit the ball one one leg. You get the point, mess around don't try to be good or hit good shots they will come with time. Look up that video on here of Pete Cowan talking about swing the club. The problem with golf often is the player wanting to improve and hit good shots instead of just learning to swing.

I'm not hitting any balls for six months. Stretching & drills ONLY for 8 hours a day, EVERY DAY to get my body prepared to hit balls again. I'm tired of having no flexibility in the swing. Time to get serious. Thanks.

If you get a swing key that works immediately and seems to good to be true... thats because it is .....ill give it 24 hours.....that swing key just took your mind off hitting the ball with the clubhead for a short while. Focus on swinging the club handle while rotating your body in sync with your hands. Do not try to hit the ball with the clubhead. That throws everything off kilter.
