If you don't get your takeaway right in the golf swing you will find it very difficult to strike your irons solid and hit your driver straight.
The golf swing takes less than 1.5 seconds to complete of which only 0.5 seconds applies to your downswing. This means that if you aren't in a great position at the top of your golf swing, you literally have no time to consistently make the necessary improvements to strike your irons perfect or hit your driver straight.
We are all looking for simple golf tips that help us produce an effortless golf swing and I believe todays golf lesson could be a game changer for your golf.

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZfaq and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumbleI’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

This lesson along with the previous one with the driver are so eye opening. The way you explain exactly what the body should be doing makes perfect sense and when I put them into my practice I can feel an immediate difference. Everything flows so much easier and I don't feel like I'm forcing any of my body movements. Can't wait to take what I've learned out to the range. Thanks Danny!

Found this move by accident some time ago and hit a massive drive. You just helped me understand how to remember this move by separating body rotation from arm motion up and down to keep the angle between the left arm and chest open. This is a big insight!

Great video lesson. I was working on this very same swing geometry on the driving range today. Feeling I strived to achieve was turning my solar plexus back and through to target keeping the arms in sync with torso. Result: More distance, more consistency.

Thanks for another great lesson, Danny! I've been watching your videos and taking them to the driving range and I must say that the improvements have been remarkable! I've been playing in some 9 hole scrambles at my local course. The past two times I've played my hitting has been substantially better! Enough to the point where at least half the time we are using my shot as the basis for the next shot. Putting is still driving me nuts...but it's all been substantially better! My drives are straighter, and my irons and wedges have massively improved as well. As an example, I generally shoot at least around 90+ on 18 holes and that's without counting lost golf balls etc. I played 18 two weeks ago and scored in the low 80s!! Thank you so much for what you do. It is much appreciated. Is there any possibility that you might do a putting lesson? How to read the greens, etc? Thanks again.

You have a God given talent for communication - having just returned to golf after 35 years at the age of 70 - I find your videos not only informative but inspiring. Back in the day, the golf pros were good but too technical in their teaching, now, this channel breaks it all down in terms that we can all understand. Right now, I am still on the driving range trying to get my confidence up before tackling my first nine holes. The high hands tip nails it for me, immediately I began hitting straight with my irons….the driver may take a bit longer to conquer, but I know that you will set me straight in no time. I may not be as fit or supple as I once was, but the aim is to enjoy golf again….within my limits and as I say…your videos inspire me to believe that I can achieve that.

In reality your lead arm will get a little closer to the body at the top of the swing but as most golfers do this excessively it’s best to feel as though your hands are away from your head. The golf swing is an arc and this is created predominantly by the body turn. The body tilts are slightly different between irons and driver but the way you coordinate the arms and body is the same

There’s always more than one way to do it. You have to be pretty flexible to have the pure rotary movement where the hands stay glued because the club moves up because of lots of tilt in the shoulders. Great if you have the flexibility to do it

Solid, Solid advice, Danny - thank you very much! I went golfing for the first time in three months (recovering from an injury and a job change kept me busy on weekends) and went out today with three new approaches from KZfaq coaches: Your "Swing your body, not your arms" advice here, Ali Taylor's "Don't look at the ball, look at the low point of your swing" and Matt Fryer's "Aim for the center of the green for better results" - and boy, did I have a phenomenal round! Now maybe it's because I forgot all of my bad habits during my time off but your advice to keep the left arm away from your chest really changed the backswing and gave me much cleaner contact! I was hitting more square and was hitting ten yards further with my irons even though I was swinging more slowly. (Even though I was using Matt Fryer's "aim for the center of the green" approach, much of the time I ended up at the back of the green because I hit the ball so cleanly... This was, quite literally, a game changer!

Thanks for this. I have kept my arm pinned to my chest for so long, this explains why my ball striking is so horrible sometimes. Can't wait to try this next week on the range. 👍 Thanks Danny.

Been out today to practice this at my club. This has improved my iron shots massively. I was hitting long par three greens I would normally never hit with an iron. Lovely crisp clean shots. So pleased. Many thanks Danny.

Thanks Danny! I’ve been working on increasing my hip angle (hip bend; am too upright) and shoulder turn to open up space for an inside out swing, but was dropping my hands instead of letting the hip bend allow the lead arm to get higher; it’s too low. As a result, I’m hitting way too many push hooks as my swing plane is too ‘around’ my body. This is the perfect explanation I’m missing. Can’t wait to take this drill to the range!

You have hands down the most relatable content I have found on the technical part of golf. It is concise, easy to understand and action. Have got my handicap down from 18 to 13 but my swing has been inconsistent particularly my irons. You have given much to work on and improve. Many Thanks

What an outstanding lesson. Between this and the feet lesson with the balance disks, my swing is physically easier, much more controllable and so much more powerful. It took me a couple months and some frustration, but this is the first time in 30 years of golf, I was able to fix my swing myself. Fixing my swing was the biggest benefit. I now understand my flaws as well as what I need to feel to be successful. Danny, I can't thank you enough, Wayne B.

This is a very fine lesson Danny. I have looked at it over and over. It hits home at my game and the horrendous slice come fade that I have cultivated for years. Tried your methodology the other day and I can't believe how it's straightened up Thanks a lot mate!

looking forward to your video on the downswing as I think that is where 80% of my driver slice is coming from. Your note about the turn and having arms pinned in to close really struck an alarm for me. will get started on the 2 hand split drill. Thanks - great information and demonstrations!!!!!

Solid drills improving width in the back swing. Struggled with this for years. I think a grainy aid called The Sure Set helped me feel proper width. I still keep it in my bad to rehearse after a few bad swings. Thanks for your excellent content. It’s easy to follow and very helpful.

I so agree with Rob McGarr. I have been watching your videos for ages now and it has really improved my golf. However, I have a confession to make. I recently watched an instructional video from another high profile You Tube professional. What a mistake. My golf ended up all over the place trying to implement this one fix that would make me hit the ball like a pro.. The great thing about your vidoes is how they relate to all us "improving" golfers. There's no quick fix just a series of videos that builds logically and consistently on everything you have taught before. I promise I will never stray again.

I've watched a number of videos by pros like yourself on how to deal with and correct swing issues and slicing right, you are the only one who addressed the left arm to close or hugging the chest, which is exactly what I'm doing, causing a slice to the right, thank you for addressing this and how to correct it.

Danny I am very excited about this new way of lining up for the driver hitting program . I have dementia so It takes a little bit longer to get things down pat. Also I tire a little quicker on my second nine because of my age, so extra strokes happen but that does not deter me, I love the game of golf to much.If I am not playing I am at the driving range. Summer is finally here so happy happy times. Thank you for all the things you do to improve golf for seniors.
