YES, take pictures! When a room gets messy and cluttered, I take several photos and sometimes will text them to a friend before I get started. Usually I can get the space cleaned up in an hour or so, and then I send updated pictures to my friend so she can tell me what a great job I did! 😄

My relocate bin used to go on the diningroom table. It got moved. I now put it on the couch. No sitting or resetting without emptying it.

100% YES!!! Laundry, dishes and kitchen trash every day - period! Put the "put away items" in an "obnoxiously obvious" location - I always appreciate your comedic common sense one-liners! Thanks!!!

Deep cleaning once a month doesn't work for me. I don't have the energy for that. That's why I advocate Flylady's zone system, where you spend 15 minutes a day deep cleaning in one zone. By the end of the month, you've gone through your entire home.

I really love having the WHOLE house deep cleaned at once...feels so refreshing!! But I do love the idea of zones too!! If you did the daily zones PLUS a monthly deep clean, the deep clean would be much easier!

I’ve tried Flylady’s cleaning tips & they seem really good. The thing I really struggle with tho is doing certain things on certain days, like Fridays for car cleaning & handbag sorting. I don’t drive or own a car & my handbag is always tidy. Also, I would rather do the weekly home blessing on a Friday instead of a Monday. I’ve often wondered why it’s on a Monday.

We don’t do that either, that’s too much for the 64 year old me and 77 year old hubby. Dust a different room, laundry each week. Dishes, floors, trash each day. Some things I only do once a season.

I took "before" pics of my worst cluttered areas. I am moving forward with the living room first. I need to clean one cluttered area before my in laws come over on July 4th!

Great tips. I especially agree with the one on hoovering every couple of days. Last week I hadn’t hoovered for quite a few days & even tho I’d used the carpet sweeper (Which in my family we call the push & pull) it still didn’t look clean. I finally hoovered & I instantly felt so much better. I can’t afford a cordless hoover & was given a Henry hoover about 3 years ago & just seeing his smiley face makes me want to use him. (Yes, I’m sad.😀) I don’t like baskets etc left on the stairs, as I find that quite dangerous. I’d be scared of tripping on them. I used to clean for a couple where the bloke had Parkinson’s & he was quite unsteady on his feet. I was always scared of him tripping on the stairs basket.

I am a senior and with arthritis i just can't deal with the getting rid of strategies by myself. At some point soon I will hire someone to do a big estate sale for us since we do have antiques and collectibles that we should (hopefully) be able to get something for. I have had one before and though it wasn't the perfect solution, they deal with the haggling with customers, staging, collecting the money, getting the stuff moved out and leftovers donated. They have groups of resellers that follow all their sales and are set up to take credit card payments. You will likely pay the reseller half of the proceeds but to me it is well worth it to not have to do all that yourself.... and if you are like me you may literally not be able to physically and/or mentally deal with it on your own. I have so much I have decided it will be easier to pick out what I want to keep rather than what I want to get rid of. I will make a system to limit myself on how much I keep such as a particular number of items. I will keep some of the family heirlooms, practical items I know I will continue to use regularly and my top percent of items I really really love. Letting a reseller handle it also means you don't have to deal with the emotional pain of watching the stuff you have had for years and have history attached walk out the door.

Thanks, for sharing. Another great video ;) I also don't make my bed until bedtime. I read yrs. ago that it's best to air out your bed(the heat/sweating at nite breeds mites etc)... I don't usually visit my bedroom during the day, anyway(I prefer to use my energy elsewhere :)...

Thank God, you fixed the lighting on your videos… I absolutely love your content, but I'll be honest… I quit watching your videos a while back, because the lighting is so blinding to the eyes, so overly bright that it was just an unpleasant experience. Please keep up the good work, keep your lighting the way it is in this video. I absolutely love your videos and find them extremely helpful.

If it's a child, make them come back and clean it up. If it was my husband, I would just tell him I'm not cooking dinner if he's left messes in the kitchen.
