I am finding so much value in this conversation. I know that I seem to choose men that are not necessarily good for me due to past trauma. I really do try, but I think I get too attached too soon to men who are also broken in some way. I don't know how to break this pattern 💔

This is why while dating you should date whomever asks you out within reason of course and not just ate one person. It takes a while to get to know people and I can tell you that they can surprise you and tell you things you've never known about them

Thanks for the helpful insight! I have been choosing or settling for men that expect perfection in a relationship with no conflicts ever. They seem to throw away the chance for deep commitment once there is one disagreement (although they keep dating me for the benefits). I know now to look for someone that can work with me to repair each conflict. That is normal! Perfection is not!

Really and when you're together as a couple then there's compromising helping out around the house learning to let go of the little unnecessary things that you get upset about like the lid on the toothpaste, if you really care about the person making time for date nights Stihl Romancing each other that's very important, supporting each other again very important having time alone with your mutual friends having time with your own personal friends

I like what you said about having a best friend starting there if you've never had one because if you can't have a relationship with another human being on a platonic side and just like having an animal or a child then you can't have a relationship with an individual more or less a family and or even pets. And if they've never had a pet I suggest they get something and start out small like a little hamster because it takes patience and love consistency and work to keep that thing alive and healthy and friendly and that in itself is a relationship

I like that but you said about he's a stranger . About two and a half years after my husband died, I dated about 3 men a day date lunches breakfast coffee. All of them wanted to sleep with me the next day say needless to say I stopped dating those men. I don't move that fast, and I do not sleep with strangers and that's what I would tell these men you want me to just sleep with you? I said to them, that would be like just picking some random guy off the street and doing them that seems Reckless and dangerous. And what would that tell the men about me as a woman

I like the way you said about looking at the relationship and maintaining the consistency because it's again a relationship is like having an animal you have to nurture it feed it love it make it feel secure take care of it be responsible for it what's going to die not to make fun of men and women calling them hamsters just an analogy. And I like hamsters:-)

Be authentic! Fake behaviour backfires. Be clear what you want at the start. If he was using you just for sex you will know. They won't be making plans with you. Be in control of you're own car. You are the driver.

Yes they set themselves up for forgetting that there are some substantial things that are in concrete that are important and focus on the the shallow parts of the relationship the feeling of something new the constant happiness at the beginning

I think the reason they don't focus on it is because most of these online sites of trying to get people together are only focused on that, getting them together as a woman of 63 who has been through many things this reminds me of when a young couple wants a child and they get so excited about having a baby but then they never think about everything that goes along with having a child the first three to six months of 4-Hour feedings hardly no sleep because a baby just eats sleeps and poops and if you don't feed them the minute they start to stir and you make that baby scream, guess what, now they will scream for food every time. So not to mention the responsibilities the bathing the feeding all that stuff as they get older but the doctor appointments figure out who's going to take them to school so on and so forth the babysitters yeah just like dating having a new relationship it's like having a child or even a new puppy there's a lot of things that go along with it the people tend to think through

Well the little things that can cause stress to sometimes people do notice it and buy feeling uncomfortable but once he realized what's causing the lack of comfort they need to express it specially. An example of this is maybe a woman tells a man what to do. Women shouldn't have to tell a man what to do. And or if a man pushes himself on a woman to maybe have sex fast a man should never push a woman into having sex quickly or it might be something a man might say like that's a pretty dress a comment regarding the woman's weight little things like that need to be addressed ASAP or they will fester and yes they will add up

But you said regarding love bombers, narcissist and players, men or women, know how to flatter and seduce so don't be taken by their veins supplications it's your personality they should be trying to get to know not your body on the first date and remember if a man's or woman is only after your outer appearance, then you're going to lose them as you get older, heavier, skinnier, have a medical condition so on and so forth. That's why in the marriage vows they have For Better or For Worse richer or poorer through sickness and in health. There's a reason they put it in the marriage vows

I agree with ignoring just to feel good stuff because a man can flatter you all night long but flattery is nothing if it's the outside of you he's interested in and it's just sex but the person who is trying to look for a real connection both men and women are going to be showing you the things you should be looking for consideration respect courtesy openness the degree of course cuz you're still strangers keeping it real as in don't hold back because then people can't see you for who you really are
