I agree with you. I decided to keep my last name even though I come from a culture where women change their last names. My husband doesn’t care, because he comes from a culture where one NEVER changes one’s names. What I found funny is how those (all from my side of the fam/friends) who aren’t even part of our marriage were offended for not taking his last name. Why do people act like it’s their lives. If Zoe’s husband decided to take her last name WHY does it bother others. HOW does it affect all these people who are bothered by it? My brother in law refuses and always calls me Mrs and my husbands last name. One day my husband said “don’t even waste your time with people who choose to not understand, because it’s so simple to understand the concept, they just choose not to”.

I googled it...just less then 3% of men take the wife's last name....which for me is more then I thought 😜 In some places notably Latin, children can take their mothers name instead of their fathers or interchange them which is a nice idea. But can be wrong. Coming from a Latin ex boyfriend with a bit of a language barrier at the time ;)

When will the assumption on the woman dies! Why can’t she be in the position where she can expect name change from her man as well. Not become a subject to it. @@charminglady2011 A bit similar to over here in Norway. When a woman marries a man she usually takes on her husbands last name as her second last name. The man usually only has his fathers last name though, after marriage. The kids however get's their mother's and their father's last name where the father's last name becomes the "main" one. Times are definitely changing this more nowadays. Its become more normalised to take on your wives last name as well as having your kids mother's last name be the "main" one. As a woman, i don't care that much about fussing over last names, but i can't help but love the new attitude of the women here "I didn't carry my child for 9 months, then give birth to them, only for them to be called 'Smith Jones' over 'Jones Smith!' " I myself have a very rare last name from my mother on my grandpa's side. There are under 20 people with my last name left in Norway. My grandparents only had girls so if our family were to keep to a traditional way, my grandpa's last name will soon be gone, which is such a shame when the only reason is because of the sex of the children. As if the bloodline just ended with girls lol.
