Knot tying video tutorial. Learn how to tie a homemade Turk's head ball and snake knot key fob. Step by step instructions in this simple DIY guide.
The ball portion of this key fob is a three lead four bight Turk's head knot tied in the form of a Celtic button knot and then doubled. (This is sometimes confused with the monkey's fist or monkey paw knot.) It is followed by a series of snake knots and finished with a snake knot loop.
Materials used: 120 cm (47 inches) paracord.

Thanks for this, I got it down first time! I find this easier than the monkey's fist, because you form it flat and then tighten it into a 3-D shape, whereas with the monkey's fist you're working it in 3-D from the start, and because you have two working ends instead of one, it doesn't really matter which direction you take the slack out, it's all good. I also like to bring both ends out of the ball through the same hole, so that the snake knot can be cinched up tight against the ball.

YOU CANNOT GET THE SLACK OUT OF THE MONKEYS FIST BOTH ENDS Also you can get a marble and do it with a monkeys fist jig of guide which has a bottom platform and four sticks 😊👍

Is there another way to finish the loop at the end? I've pulled it tight and still seems to work loose, thankfully I haven't cut and singed the ends yet.

Hello excellent key fob, but like a lot of other videos no indication of length of paracord used, its not easy to get paracord so i dont like wasting any unnecessarily.

Yes. Instead of doing the finishing tuck take the same path as between the 1st and 2nd pass and then finish.
