@@theeschatechannel2854 I use mine every day, not a huge amount of mileage, but up and down the mountainside. However, you have to remember it's a diesel and an old engine, so take it easy on the gas pedal. But if you stab it, (every now and then) those 6 cylinders give a punch, .......I'd say go for it, and good luck. Look after it and it will only go up in value, ......how many vehicles can you say that about ?

Slow and Natural life thanks for the quick response! The one I’m looking at is a Colombian import and has a straight six. My main concern was ride quality and if they break down often. As of right now, these are way below my budget so I can take the extra money and do a full tear down and restoration, possibly a engine and transmission swap.

@@theeschatechannel2854 Hi Lynn, personally I wouldn't even think of a full tear down, engine or transmission, ...unless the damn thing is clunking around, ....and then I wouldn't buy it, but wait for another ! Toyota built these things to last, .....I used them in Africa for 20+ years, they can take a lot of abuse, .......worst thing is not the terrain, but the driver. I bought an automatic version here in Japan, as usually these have not been used by crazy kids to off road, (......seriously miss the gearbox though). However I'd just go for the original, it's a whole new perspective driving around, ......a pleasure you might say ......and what would you do with the extra few minutes you might save with an 'ordinary' car ? Good luck
