My favourite women's player is Portia Woodman from New Zeeland Ferns. She is retiring soon and can't wait for Andrrew Forde and Squidge Rugby to finish their tribute videos of her !!! My second favourite is the smiling assassin. Stacey Waaka. Also from the NZ Ferns.

The Sesame Street gang were at a Sevens tournament. Sevens Rugby has seven players per team, natch, and shortened matches of 15 minutes each. Lots of space and not a long time to empty the tank in terms of effort. So it's quicker and fun to watch. The matches are played as part of weekend tournaments with each team playing many other teams in games across the 2 days. For the supporters it's a good excuse for an entire weekend of beer and hi-jinks. Including wearing fancy-dress costumes...

Slowly but surely Rugby is taking off in the US and I really enjoy the development on the world stage. For a very niche US sport you're doing good. Womens rugby is really shaking things up and they play a fantastic fast game, no fear either. I love the idea that kids on the sideline are watching their mum on a rampage.

The woman with no hair is called Heather Fisher and she is a fantastic rugby player. She has no hair through alopecia. She would fold you up like a bendy bus hitting a brick wall at full speed, these women are no joke. Its like modern day Viking shit, some people are just built to do damage. Id tread lightly on calling them all "men" or "Lesbians". They are all very strong, finely tuned athletes and i wouldn't want to piss off a community that knows about and respects them for being exactly that - them.

The team that NZis playig against is Australia not South Africa. While both wear similar colured guernseys the Aus and Southern Cross star patten on the shorts were kind of a giveaway.

Traditionally Australian teams play in gold/yellow jerseys and South Africa play in green jerseys. England normally wears white attire. However, when it comes to sevens rugby, the attire sometimes differ from the traditional colours.

As far as tackles go: You may not pull hair: you may not tackle above the shoulder line (ie. neck and head area): you may not pick a player up higher than the horizontal waist line height and dump to the ground (tip tackle). Other than that it's basically all go for all practical purposes. They don't wear helmets but some players wear some padded head gear which is basically ineffective and does not provide much protection. Some forwards wear shoulder padding (most don't). Players wear mouth guards.

The head gear is called a scrum cap and is only to protect your ears in a scrum. Shoulder pads have been used in rugby league but not in rugby union.

@@mirandahotspring4019 You are wrong about the shoulder pads, some (not very common to be fair) forwards do indeed wear some sort of shoulder padding in rugby union. Also some wear the padded head gear to "lessen" chances of concussion (also to "protect" their ears as you say) but not really effective as far as concussion is concerned. You will see that some backline players (who do not scrum) wear the head gear.

@@nic0072 They were tried for a while about 15 years ago. The rules allowed for material no denser than 45kg/m3. They also coincided with an increase in shoulder injuries, the thought was people were committing to harder tackles and the impact resistance was bottoming out. Most players have now discarded them. Habena used them for a while, but while the pads may reduce minor soft tissue bruising, there are no data to suggest that shoulder padding alone will be effective in preventing shoulder fractures or dislocations.

It's called a pass, not a pitch or throw. The same laws are used in men's rugby union with the same sized pitch and same equipment.

Never take on a rugby player in a fight. They are super fit and are used to being hit hard. Many players enroll in wrestling classes. One thing about rugby. They look after you and it's a proper team game where you need to rely on each other. Bonding is important in this game as you will need to look out for each other and work together to score points and stopping the other team from scoring. Your wife will find it daunting at first but once she gets a taste of it, she will fall in love with it and the people.

Your head is supposed to be by the side of their hip.
