Thanks for checking it out. As far as the Chainmailisms, it adds weapon class, reflecting a weapon's speed and size. Differences between weapon classes can grant extra attacks, parries and other such actions. Fighting Class is also utilized to allow for more heroic play, granting multiple attacks in "non-fantastical combat." The weapon vs armor tables are extrapolated from the 2d6 man-to-man tables in chainmail. They are modified to accommodate the d20 roll we all know and love. Mostly I would suggest looking into fighting capability and weapon class and how those aspects of chainmail drastically change the game (for the better IMO). Thanks again! I appreciate it. Happy to learn about this, thank you. I've found a lot to like in 0e and the weapon class rules are actually one of my favorite things, but it's rare to find any revival that attempts to integrate them. Very interesting.

Weapon class is probably the biggest difference between what has become conventional D&D and the combat in this system I need to get more into the weeds on how it works myself, admittedly 😅

Very interesting, although I find the choice of using chainmail odd since we know that even in 1974 neither Gygax nor Arneson actually used those rules, so while TheBasicExpert's preamble of "What if it was 1974 and all I had was the 3 LBBs and Chainmail" is an interesting one, we know that the answer is "ignore chainmail" because we have evidence from both of them and their players that they never used it. that said though, I definitely think the addition of Chainmail adds some more value to "all weapons do 1d6" where otherwise it's a bit bland.

I have a crappy print copy of the "first printing" original D&D, which I reverse engineered from the WOTC premium PDF after breaking the edit protection, and an OCRed pdf copy of chainmail 3rd edition. It's not the best but it was cheaper than buying an original woodgrain box and chainmail booklet. I'll probably pick a copy of this up because flipping between between 4 books, is a bit annoying.
