@@loganatori6117 The "Red Shirts" was a Star Trek trope where, in order to avoid killing or really threatening actual characters, threats would typically be shown at the cost of a standard crew member that didn't matter. They were often just random crew members in red shirts Hence, to show that the dust cloud man was a big jerk that could kill people, the writers showed that at the cost of the life of some random new guy in the standard red uniform. A Red Shirt fulfilling the trope

I love the gag at 5:19 that he doesn't _immediately_ put the tape back in, there's a half second where he just holds it. Like he's trying to think if he has a tape that better matches his reaction, but no, this is the best one he has.

I would have thought that since Melvar only knows the tapes, Fry would beat him with meta-knowledge, like for example how the order they were aired in differed from the order they were filmed in, which explains some discrepancies; or things about the actors themselves. But no, it was all encyclopedic knowledge of only the episodes themselves. And that seems made up.
