Agreed, but depends of the version! I GET one on a vinyl, I'm crying each time, I'm listening to it! It's a live, on the 4cd's,or vinyls, called "CROSSROADS"! This version, is just unbelievable! You can feel his pain, sadness, in his voice, and in the guitar, which is just crying! Phenomenal!

I've always loved Eric Clapton his guitar playing and his blues. I don't know but it seems to me you'd fit in perfectly with his band. It's great to see you both have a heart, I absolutely love seeing Eric clapton playing with BB King, his good buddy. Also love seeing him play with a lot of his other blues friends.

Hi guys! You've reacted to Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy and Eric Clapton, but how about a reaction to their contemporary, the amazing Rory Gallagher? For a great song with relatable lyrics, I highly recommend "A Million Miles Away". Rory played electric and acoustic blues and blues rock, along with just some great rock stuff. For a good rock performance, check out "Do You Read Me?" from Rock Goes to College 1979. For his acoustic stuff, any of the performances from the RTE "Me and My Music" from 1976 is amazing-long before MTV's Unplugged series. Rory was melody Maker's 1972 International Guitarist of the Year, beating Clapton, Hendrix & Page. He was recruited by the Rolling Stones to replace Mick Taylor (but he opted to follow his own course). He influenced Slash, Alex Lifeson, Brian May, Johnny Mars and many other guitarists, including Clapton.

Clapton has been through a lot many ups and downs. For many years he was addicted mostly alcohol but also drugs then the tragic loss of his son Conor. He has been at the very bottom yes i guess you could say he's been through Hell but came back. This song just like Tears in Heaven is about his son Conor.

I agree with you surelechapeau. Aside from Derek and the Dominos album(Layla) From The Cradle is his best album. I even like it better than his Cream and Blind Faith work. I've seen every Eric Clapton Tour several times ,plus numerous benefit and blues festivals over the past 44 years. When he did from the cradle,he really cut loose , especially playing alongside Doyle Bramhall and Derek Trucks. He really played at a different level ,I guess playing all those blues standards from his heroes really inspired him!!!

@@surlechapeau it was funny cause I had grown so tired of hearing Layla, crossroads, sunshine of your love, cocaine and wonderful tonight. When he did From The cradle some buffoon was screaming out Layla the entire show, Clapton refused to play it, I was so happy to not have to hear again for the 20th damn time at a Clapton show!!! he played the entire from the cradle album instead. He did play crossroads ,tell the truth and Milk cow blues and it was his most inspired playing I've seen in years!!! He didn't lay back at all, he played with speed and explosiveness that I had never seen myself live before and more along the lines of his old Cream days!!!! Clapton really plays his best when Derek Trucks is along for the show or tour. I did get to see Clapton play with The Allman's at the 40th anniversary shows at the Beacon Theatre in NY City!! It was quite a night!!! I'm glad someone with an ear and a brain finally commented on From the Cradle cause that is Clapton at his best!!! I couldn't agree with you more!!!

Don't fret the emotions being brought up by this song and this mans playing. This song kills me every time I hear it, and this version in particular does me in. This came out ten years after I lost my first fiancé to a drunk driver, which was three days after getting engaged. She was so far out of my league as to be laughable, but she loved me for some reason. It took me 10 years to get over her and am now happily married to a woman I have been with for 18 years now. Still my favorite musician, even if he is a bit of a conspiracy nutter.

If you wanna try out something quite a bit different to see his versatility then you should check out his 2004 Crossroads Festival version of I Shot The Sheriff. The solo at the ~5min mark ascends beautifully: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/edBpZbWo39TSqmQ.html There's also a great version from the 2010 Crossroads Festival Blu-ray and from his 2013 Planes, Trains & Eric Blu-ray; all quite distinct. But the 2004 version linked above is just on another level, shows a real state of flow....

I want the 1973 live version, which is on the 4 cd's box, called CROSSROADS, (sorry, i'm 42 years old, at my time we were listening k7, or cd's😂👍), , when he was destroyed, he lost, his great friend JIMI HENDRIX, he was in love with his best friend's girlfriend, car crash, taking HEROIN, and, you can feel it in the version! I cried several times, when i listened to that version( the best he did) ! His guitar is, just, crying, and, you can feel the guy, is not far to die.... Phenomenal!
