Explore the wide variety of sounds and vocalizations of the eastern wild turkey. Learn how and why turkeys make the distinct noises that they do to help you become more successful on your next turkey hunt!
Cluck:
Used to let the other turkeys know of its location, the cluck is usually used in short 2-3 note bursts. It is a great call to attract hung up gobblers to your location!
Purr:
Great call for letting the other turkey know it is safe and still near the flock. The purr doesn’t have to be loud to reassure others that they are content in the area.
Cutt:
A cutt is made to show that the turkeys are excited. A great method of bringing a dominant hen to you is to cutt at her, this can often bring a following gobbler.
Yelp:
Can be done in conjunction with cutts to challenge other turkeys to your location and can lure in mature birds. Yelping is similar to other calls but is a higher note and can show the birds that there is excitement in the area.
Cackle:
Is typically associated with leaving the roost or going to roost. The cackle can be a great tool to locate the roosting birds.
