Join me wildcamping in Snowdonia, in a Hammock!
I decided to take the plunge and give hammock camping a try for the first time. We found one of Snowdonia's mountain lakes with plenty of trees to hang from, to spend the night for a very peaceful camp. Have you ever tried hammocking? Let me know in the comments if you have any tips!

Simply wonderful Joss amid the wood, lake and the moss. I have one of Backpacking Light's tarps but the larger one. I think maybe that will be the next thing for you in the Hamocking arena. I liked your friends tarp. A good skill there - he must have enjoyed putting that together and enjoyed it more sleeping under it. Well, beautifully put together - fitting for such a spot and for the company. All the best as always. Mark

Looked an idea spot and I must admit, I have never been hammock camping but always fancied giving it a go, to see if I like it. Those foil blankets are great to have in your bag although, I have never used one to warm my feet up before lol. To be honest, I think if I gave it a go with one of these, it would have to be in the summer, when you could benefit from a warm night but still feel as though you are completely outdoors. Nice to be able to make a mug of coffee while you are still in bed mind, cheers Alan

I can recommend the DD hammocks tarp ' m ' it's a bit narrower but it's longer than the normal 3x3 one that everyone normally uses so it's ideal to stop heavy rain from getting to the hammock, as long as you have a carabineer or something else to act as a drip line. It's the same price as the 3x3 as well. I've just this week survived a night in heavy rain and 40 mph gusts and stayed nice and dry in my hammock.

Hey Joss. Beautifully filmed and edited. Lovely to see you both. I wonder if your underblanket was not close enough to your body. It’s rated to -30C, so should have kept you toasty. The other thing I do when it’s wet is not put it up until I’m ready to sleep as the moisture in the air can upset the down, but your body warm brings it back to life. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Mischa Tytel thanks Mate, the down quilt was amazing and did the job. The only place I had cold spots were at my feet, where the quilt didn’t extend. Hey Josh. Phil’s underquilt should be great for someone over 6’, so I would be surprised if it was too short. Maybe next time have one end just covering your shoulders, so with diagonal lay your feet should be well covered. Also make sure it is not bunching up
@jossthomas123456
@jossthomas123456 4 жыл бұрын
Mischa Tytel cheers mate its definitely a short one. (About 5 foot long perhaps) Maybe Phil was using the one that you were thinking of as we made sure that this wasn’t sagging in the middle👍 He got his one out later on, so its not in the video.
