Join me for an absolutely epic camp, just as winter fades away, above the Devil's Kitchen on the Glyderau mountain range in Snowdonia. I was fortunate to have some amazing weather, which made it a very pleasant evening.

I’m very fussy about the you tube videos that exist. I follow 2 Feet Forward and Paul Mesner’s video’s and your on my list to watch. It’s obvious that you put the effort into your videos (quality) and it’s very clear that you are passionate about North Wales (which we are truly blessed to have) and about mountaineering. Your newest fan and avid watcher, Dr Gary Hudson....ps: Carnedd Llewelyn is my favourite place (and one or two others). Keep up the good work!!!

Hi joss. Another great video. To be honest, flying a drone around the mountains is probably the safest place you can fly it.. not many people, and it gives a different view of the area. 'Two feet forward' you tube channel, does a great job of their footage. Thanks for sharing 😊

Yes I love the old drone footage generally, I follow 2 feet Forward and Explorer Buddies who do some great drone filming... but there was something a bit annoying about the calm of this magical place being ruined by that buzz. Im not anti drone but its a fine balance. Went on holiday to Iceland and you cant go anywhere without a drone flying ahead there. Ta for watching Billy. Did you have a good weekend in Ogwen? I'm a drone pilot and from Snowdonia, would love to get amazing drone footage from anywhere I wanted, but a) you need to respect the wildlife, flora and other users of the landscape. B) you are not permitted to fly a drone in the National Park without permission from the National Park Authorities. Beautiful scenery and look forward to walking the hills again soon👍

@@AndyHiggins007 you are correct on the first point but regarding point ‘b’, permission is only necessary if you are flying a drone for commercial purposes. See further info www.snowdonia.gov.wales/authority/news-and-media/using-drones

Thanks Buddy much appreciated. I think this is so far my all time favourite film. Ive not changed cameras, still using an iphone but its capabilities are far better on blue sky days like this. They really dont perform well in low light. The only addition was my SLR for the night photography stills. My tent is a Terra Nova Laser Comp. Absolutely brilliant tent, I picked it up on ebay for £120. It had only been used twice👍 Practically the same design as a Zephyros but different material in both parts. I did have a Zephyros years ago. Anyway thanks for the positive feedback 👍👍👍

Another spectacular video Joss! Great camera work and editing as usual. One observation I would make is your comments regarding wild camping.... hmmm... I do it and have no problem with it. It's all part of the adventure and experience. I do agree that discreet camping is better, but for someone to actually complain? And I totally agree with you about "bloody anti-social" drones!!! Cheers buddy. Glad you enjoyed it. Re:Wildcamping in the Cwm, there was a bit more to it, which I didn’t put in the video but the lady had started a polite conversation with them and they hadn’t been too friendly in their reply. She stopped me because she thought I was a warden 😂 They were camped practically on the path in one of the busiest places in the park, and they were still having a lie in at half eleven the following day so were far from discrete. Each to their own, but we have to remember that we are guests in these awesome places. As for that bloody drone it was disturbing a bird of prey as well. I nearly went over to say something but it would have spoilt an amazing day. Thanks for watching and commenting, its all good discussion 👍 atb Joss

@@jossthomas123456 Ah, now you mentioned that extra bit about it being blatantly on the path, that is very disrespectful. I mean, come on, anybody ought to know that. I have noted from your previous videos the sleeping equipment you use such as the mattress. I looked it up but it's so expensive. I find a nice insulated sleeping bag to be adequate. With regards to the comments you make in this video about finding a non-wet piece of ground to set up, I know what you mean. I was there 24 hours before you and the ground was very marsh and boggy at the foot of Glyder Fach. There is nothing I hate more than sleeping in wet clothes, especially socks. Your home-made curry looked bloody nice too! :) Just editing my Snowdon 8 video now (so called because it was my 8th time) and it should be up later today. We'll have to meet up one day up on the mountains..... I'll next be there in July for the 3000s. You'd be more than welcome to do it with me and my mate if you fancy it?

LordHeath1972 nice one. I picked up that Sea 2 Summit mattress at half the price which was a bargain. I always sleep on my side so need a bit of depth in a mattress and have a back injury at the moment, so for me its an essential bit of kit👍 The full 3000 would be dodgy for my back so will give it a miss but ta for the invite dude😎

Very good video and you got some striking images - however i must disagree with your comments about the drone flyer being anti social flying it there - I don't have a drone and will never have one. but I would think taking aerial pictures around Snowdonia would be the ideal place to fly one other than that a great job and a fantastic experience for you
@jossthomas123456
@jossthomas123456 4 жыл бұрын
Chris Procter thanks for watching and commenting. I can imagine that the drone footage would have been absolutely fantastic- however I think what I found to be antisocial is the very loud noise they make. Personally think that this should be done when not many people are about. The drone was bothering a Buzzard, which was flying above, as well. These are special places where the peace and quiet is as special as the views. Thats my take on it anyway, thanks for your support, all the best Joss

Hi Joe, Its a Laser Comp 1. Its a fantastic tent. I have used it in bad weather but wouldn’t use it in proper winter but it would stand up to mild winter weather. The roof would not hold inches of snow without bowing. I have a Scarp 1 for winter use, which comes with an optional ‘geodesic’ outer pole system that can be used in heavy snow.
