Sohrin Zanjan plain (Ahwan plain) with an area of 122,618 hectares in the continuation of Zanjan plain and in the northern part of Zanjan city next to Sohrin village, is the only Ahwan sanctuary in the northwest of the country.
The Sohrin deer plain is a part of the protected area of Sorkabad Zanjan, which is considered one of the valuable areas and the last habitat of deer in the northwest and west of Iran.
This plain is considered to be the only refuge and habitat of the last surviving Iranian gazelle (Gazella subgutturosa) in the northwest of the country, and according to the latest census (2016), 1105 deer live in this plain.
