Great video Steve with some excellent tips. Getting down low at eye level has to be one of the best tips.

Vero is a good place to start. New, but with great potential for us photographers/videographers.

Another good video Steve, with useful information. Knowing an animals behaviour is a good tip and may I add that the animals welfare comes first and we should not try getting closer than necessary to it. Fieldcraft is an important factor to master. Stay safe mate.

Thanks Steve, yes fieldcraft is really important and yes totally agree the animals welfare has to come first. Keep well, cheers, Steve.

Great video Steve. Do you give lesson on camera settings ect. I've just updated my camera gear to a canon 1d mrk 3 and a 400 prime lens. To be honest I'm having trouble getting my head around it. I like to think that I've masterd my other camera's canon 5d mark 2 and 77d but I can't master this 1d mark 3 can you help

Hi Nick, glad you enjoyed the video. Yes I run small group wildlife photography courses and would cover camera settings on those lessons. I also offer one-to-one lessons. I would certainly be able to help you with the settings on the Canon 1dmrk 3. If you're interested take a look at my website www.stevehedgesphotography.co.uk, you can contact me from there either by email or phone. Cheers, Steve.

I have a huge tip for you. Turn off the shutter sound 😅 seriously, animals 5km away would be scared away 😅
@SteveHedgesPhotography

Hi Villiam I often go to silent shutter release but in this case the wildlife isn't bothered by shutter noise. Electronic shutters can also cause distortion when panning with some cameras so it's worth taking that into account. All the best, Steve.

@@SteveHedgesPhotography yeah, I shoot silent 😊 tried something new today, 25 fps silent shutter on bif. Seems nice, if you manage to get focus on the birds 😅 sadly I didn't 😬 I can go 50 fps with locked c-af and 125 fps with c-af. But sadly I didn't get the focus today 😬 need more practice 💪

Hi Villiam, sounds interesting. I think all of us always need more practice. Good luck with your birds in flight. All the best, Steve.

Hi Steve. When you are shooting with shutter speeds of 1/1000 & 1/2000 what ISO & aperture speeds are you using? Maybe it is better to use Auto for both ISO & aperture?
@SteveHedgesPhotography
@SteveHedgesPhotography Жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, I normally use manual exposure and auto ISO. I set my shutter speed of either 1/1000 or 1/2000th sec then close the aperture down by 2/3rd of a stop which will give me a slightly sharper image. Then auto ISO will then adjust depending on the amount of light. Hope this helps, all the best, Steve.

Can I start with D7500 and 18-140 kit lens ?
@SteveHedgesPhotography
@SteveHedgesPhotography Жыл бұрын
Hi Aniruddha, you can certainly start with the D7500. It's a great camera with all the controls you need for wildlife photography. You will probably find that your kit lens doesn't give you a long enough focal length for wildlife photography though. Obviously this will depend on how close you can get to the animal you're photographing and how big it is. I normally use either a 200-500mm zoom or a 600mm lens. Hope this helps. All the best, Steve.
