Over the years, we've rescued foxes from down drains, in houses and stuck in trees, but the 21st storey of a newly built tower block is definitely a new one for us!
With no nets separating the fox from a horrific fate, Lawrie and Simon would only get one chance...

I second that opinion, the story telling is stellar, so you're interested the whole way through. Sometimes, when they cut off the story, showing only the before and after, with a brief explanation of how they solved the problem presented (when something is medically wrong), I am a bit disappointed they don't show more to demonstrate the work that goes into their passion.

He was put back to where he was found as he knows the area and knows the best places to hunt for food. Putting him in a new territory even if less populated and away from busy roads could lead to him starving to death.
@wildlifeaid
@wildlifeaid 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much! We're glad we could help! In terms of the release, although it may not look 'ideal' to us, it is vital to release an adult fox back to the location in which it was found. They know where to find food, shelter, mates and know their territorial limits. Moving a fox to a new area would not only leave it not knowing any of these, but will often lead to territorial fights with the existing foxes in the area. Sadly, we have seen the results on not following this rule a lot over the past 40 years!
@sil9800
@sil9800 3 жыл бұрын
@@wildlifeaid Thanks so much for the reply. I guess I thought, given how populated the area was, you might've re-introduce him to a new environment thru a controlled setting, like the cages you have set up for some animals, with food inside for a few days before opening the door, but keeping food available until they acclimate. Not questioning your judgement at all though, you definitely know better than me! lol Thanks again! ♥️

Omg 21ft wow. I wouldn't want to be up that high I'm petrified of heights. Well you sounded like you had a shaky voice I don't blame you. You kept talking with him which seemed like it was calming him and yourself down. Is he a flying fox lol how'd he get up there. Yikes! That's good the tail isn't fractured.look at those bright beautiful eyes on that fox 🦊😊😊😊great job.

Wow! Good job guys!! bravo Simon bc fear of heights is no small thing... Could a fox with a cut (or non) tail survive on the wild?
@wildlifeaid
@wildlifeaid 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, much appreciated! Whilst injured animals can recover by themselves, the infection in the tail would have led to necrosis if left untreated, potentially resulting in the loss of the end of his tail. It was worth making sure everything was well before he was released :)
