Bison, cold weather, a beautiful sunrise with a sundog.. I just love this time of year and being out away from everything and in the wilderness just makes it all that much better. This newest oil painting of mine is very special to me like all my works. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do as well as the story.

What part ??( im not a creep btw lol.... Just so neat to talk to fellow Alaskans). Im way up in the interior. Its finally warming up and melting things off. Feels like Heaven on earth! Everything starts to come alive. Birds are everywhere now. Even the mosquitos will be a welcome sight after a long winter haha.

I well remember riding a motorcycle from one side of a valley to the other. At the top, it was warm enough to make you sweat but by the time you were at the bottom, it was cold enough to chill your bones. Two extremes in temperature in just a few minutes. Great inspirational painting as always Chuck.

This is beyond words. Incredible, breathtaking, nature in all of its glory, and you've captured it to perfection. How do you manage to paint every crevice of an imaginary scene with such precision and detail? Everything is so specific it's astonishing! Is it reference photos mainly? Or extreme attention to detail at real places? Keep up the amazing work!
@chuckblackart
@chuckblackart 3 жыл бұрын
Well you would be surprised how the detail fades away into random brush strokes up close. I really use a lot of thicker paint and just sort of try to manipulate it into something that looks great standing back, but without focusing on the crazy detail up close. I think that really just comes with time. I do use my own photos and this one was from many different ones. It was based off a location, but the lighting nor the bison were there. Thank you!

Ya know, when you hear a musical artists song on the radio and its good but then later you hear someone like Bruce Springsteen talk about his inspiration behind writing "I'm on fire" right before he performs it for the crowd and the song takes on a deeper meaning for you at a whole new level. That's what this was like.... I really liked hearing your inspiration behind this painting. This is definitely one of your best works Chuck...just amazing with so many different aspects and details.

Beautiful. It has a story to tell and your's was wonderful. It may have been frustrating, miserable and fridges, but your journey through that adventure resulted in a work of art that captures the heart and soul of the viewer. For me, I can easily get lost within the composition. Like being caught up in a hypnotic trance to wander through scene. This is exactly what I needed to see today to draw me out of my own thoughts. Last year on this day April 16th 2020, my dad past away and my brother a few years ago. I've felt disconnected all day, I miss them so much. This painting some how allows me to grieve yet fills my heart with joy and wonder. Thank you for sharing this
