I believe you were close with the flavor text. If I remember correctly, the conditions to liberate the eldrazi from the hedron trap was to be in the Eye of Ugin, 3 planeswalkers and cast dragon fire.

1:29:42 It is a reference to the Disney Channel animated series Phineas and Ferb. One of the characters is an "evil" scientist named Doofenshmirtz and whenever the show cuts over to his build it plays a jingle. Graham was actually very close to the one they use in the show in his initial guess.

I'm gonna assume his closeness was partially subconscious, Graham's referenced Phineas and Ferb in the past, he's at least somewhat familiar Edit: now that I've gotten there. Yeah, it's totally in his brain, he just couldn't place it fully.

"Cluedo" was the original, it's a combination of the words "clue" and "ludo" (Latin for "I play"). It was renamed in North America because it was apparently too confusing.

Hi! Comment explaining the Frantic Firebolt nickname here. The flavor text says "Johann's conjecture about draconic fire dispelling rainwater elementals proved to be correct. Now he just needed a way to dispell draconic fire.". In much the same way the old lady swallowed bigger and bigger things to kill the last thing she swallowed, it's implied Johann would summon/create bigger and bigger threats to dispell whatever he last summoned, ending with emrakul two flavor texts (aka cards) later. In summary, Johann keeps summoning bigger and bigger things in order to deal with the things he previously summoned.

37:13 I think it's referencing the flavor text rather than the card text. It's doing a "Old lady who swallowed a fly" thing where he just keeps using bigger spells to solve the problem caused by the last spell. Ending in Emrakul, the biggest spell.

22:48 While I always knew these puzzles as 'Dingbats' apparently that's the trademarked term for a particular game featuring them, and the more generic term is 'Rebus'. The Dingbats puzzle books were a big part of many family holidays when I was young

For anyone curious, sheep is a creature type. There are 4 of them, one from unfinity (not acorn) and one retconned by the type overhaul. Also, two distinct sheep tokens with different stat lines. Edit: should've listen like 2 more minutes

Great episode as always. Didn't really get around to submitting any nicknames this time (well, I submitted one, 'Biting Axe' for Witchstalker Frenzy), because I had surgery right around when submissions opened. It was just a tracheal shave, so it wasn't a big surgery or anything, but it did mess up my schedule enough that I just didn't find the time. But I still really enjoyed the episode. The Three Bowls of Porridge nickname actually made me laugh until my stomach hurt.

It's a "woman who swallowed a fly" situation. 1:18:42 As in "Fe-fi-fo-fum!" but with respiratory virii. 1:29:41 Phineas and Ferb, with Doofenschmirtz Evil Incorporated.

That's why they bought them! It was for Desert Bus two years ago where they did a Star Trek theme for NightWatch, so graham found them. They were also spill proof in some way which amde them perfect for the bus.

Would you believe it just slipped my mind to put my name on the ratatouille's monster nickname? Aha, Cluedo is a play on words! At the time when it was devised, 'Ludo' was a popular boardgame in Britain. So you have a boardgame where you're looking for Clues. Clues, Ludo. Cluedo. Ludo was not a big seller in the US, so they dropped the portmanteau.

Kathleen's discussion on Candy Grapple reminds me that it was so funny to see the salt lords come out of the woodwork during set spoiler season to whine and complain about how MtG is "getting so cringe" and "trying too hard" with joke names and joke flavor text and I think what they don't realize is that MtG has always been this way; it was just going through an edgy phase there for about a decade, and has realized in its adulthood that it's okay to just keep being a goober.

storm's rules are 702.39 from the judges rule page 702.39 Storm 702.39a Storm is a triggered ability that functions on the stack. “Storm” means “When you cast this spell, copy it for each other spell that was cast before it this turn. If the spell has any targets, you may choose new targets for any of the copies.” 702.39b If a spell has multiple instances of storm, each triggers separately.

RE: Edgewall Inn. Even if that is a ramp, that looks way too steep to me. Perhaps someone with a more artistic eye can confirm this, though. Loved the ep, nicknames is always great!
