We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.

Josh as you already know, your wife is beautiful. Aside from "looks" she has a GREAT sense of humor, you 2 are always laughing and joking around, now THATS BEAUTIFUL. Loved the scene with Erin and Ellie over at the split rail fence. Erin is such a good mother; so loving and nuturing! Erin always amazed me when she takes a sheet of OSB and carries it off like it was nothing, she is wonderwoman, too many adjectives to list. Ellie and Lilly are so sweet, I love their interactions. You guys making the most of your sheathing reminded me of a saying my dad always used..."waste not, want not". His generation was the Great Depression followed by WWII...they learned a lot about surviving. Another of his favorites was "use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without". And to leave you with one more "it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it". Y'all have a blessed day and thanks for sharing the build with us!

They certainly had "fitting" sayings to label a situation of the era. One of my father's saying was: "The knife is made sharper by things it was never meant to cut"!! It litterly covered so many issues.

We didn't have indoor plumbing till I was 3. 1963 that is. We, were less poor than those during the GD and after 1950 yet, nothing like today. So much wasted spending on everything. Then when one gets too much its yard sale time lol.

“Dead nuts” is a machinist's term for absolute precision-the highest compliment for something that is being inspected for accuracy.

That doesn't explain why they use such a wierd term. What does explain it is that in England people used to often refer to zero as "naught" so English machinists would refer to near perfect precison on a micrometer that's "0.000" as it's "dead naughts" accurate, i. e., all zeros. That term morphed into "dead nuts" in America. We really should say it correctly, but it's too late now..lol.

I do love watching the interactions of Ely and Lilly they are such friends and I can imagine Ely being sad and upset but at the same time she understands and is missing her best friend. The build is coming on beautifully. I was wondering what is happening with the Wild Roots Cafe and what has happened to the cabin would love a tour of the cabin when the season is over.

Great job coming along 👏 👍! There is no need for the nail spacers on zip system. It is designed to be touching with no gaps because the zip tape seals the seam. Since you have gaps this will allow air and moisture to enter also fasteners used for installation of exterior siding materials will not hit anything.
