Most lawnmowers will run on almost anything. He should try Bacardi 151 next or Everclear 190 proof. EDIT: I just found out they don't sell Bacardi 151 anymore. WTF? Wikipedia say Bacardi 151 is typically mixed in sweet drinks. Myself and my friends always drank it straight.

Bretton Ferguson They stopped selling it because Bacardi heavily promoted 151 to bartenders to use in flaming drinks and fire tricks while at the exact same time basically telling them, "don't set this alight, wink wink, and certainly don't remove the flame arrester cap! That would be wrong, wink wink!" They thought that half-assed, deliberately insincere warning would protect them from lawsuits if a bartender was burned - and it might have, but unfortunately the most notable victim was an innocent bystander who'd entered a bar to watch a basketball game and who didn't even know the bartender was planning on any fire tricks. She suffered third-degree burns, spent over a month in the burn ward, and was disfigured for life; she and her health insurance provider sued Bacardi and won, with the judge ruling that Bacardi's warnings were insincere and would lead a reasonable person to think there was no real risk.

Wow, I am astonished at all of the things that the mowers have run on. Perhaps you could do a little board where you record successes and failures. I think that would be a great addition to the video series and would help us viewers (especially those who haven't been following along the whole time) by not suggesting things that have already been tried.

When I was in college I used to run my car on anything with a flammable sticker. If I came across it, then into the car it went. Never replaced the CAT and never had any engine related issues. Fuel injectors were replaced when I bought the car and this stunt did nothing to them. You would be shocked what a motor will run on. Especially if mixed with gasoline.

WD-40 vs Starting Fluid in a Diesel Engine. For years I have used WD-40(no straw) to start hand pump hydraulic starter diesel lifeboat engines. These lifeboats were a massive pain in the ass. Especially in the dead of winter near the Sea of Okhotsk. And this ship only had regular starting fluid in the boats. One day, I couldn't get one of the lifeboats started an old timer told me to try WD-40, Sure enough, it worked like a charm, no knocking either. This same engine would go on to have injection pump issues and be impossible to start in the cold, but with WD-40 it was not an issue.

Garrett Burrows Yeah,I wouldnt. I have used twocycle gas. It cruds up the cylinder head,slark plug and valves if you use it all the time. Then again,on a worn engine,it boosts the compression much like a wet compression test using oil in the cylinder. My mower is 30 years old so I dont care what I use in it any more. I doubt I can even get new parts for it. Its an old Snapper friction drive mower,the last of the best mower snapper ever produced.

Tailslol White gas/coleman fuel/ naptha is not the same as paint thinner. The first 3, seem pretty much the same, if not exactly the same. Paint thinner/solvent is something different and does not volatilize like the “gasses”. I sometimes used my Paint thinner/solvent soaked rags in my wood stove just to get rid of them. They do not really burn very well. I would not dare put a “gas” soaked rag in my wood stove as it would explode. That is why I am really surprised that paint thinner could power a lawn mower.

Well, I know that some people have done that, but how about running an engine on hydrogen? Just throw it through air intake along with air, and give it two stroke oil through fuel line in carburetor, so it doesn't seize. You could build a simple hydrogen generator with no problem, and results might be interesting. Careful though; as hydrogen burns very aggressivly (explodes actually) it might damage or destroy aluminum piston. But if you're careful it should be fine. And I wouldn't run it in see-through engine, glass might not last very long, and no one wants you dead.

Gasoline is a biologically organic distillate same as spiritus or turpentine oil (which is the organic juice of a birch) - as all chemically-sourced fuel-types like ethanol et al.

You should try using diesel fuel as engine oil and see if diesel keeps it lubed enough or if it seized up or if it runs better or once heats up diesel ignition occurs

i agree with this one, the small amount of diesel that gets burnt of in the combustion cycle might add a little bit to the combustion.

I have 2 more ideas considering the cost of suitable substitutes 1. Toluene 2. Turpentine Basically both are kind of ok to run in gasoline engine considering octane rating Basic idea is to find a cost effective replacement for gasoline Both are way cheaper than gasoline when bought in bulk (for industrial use ofcourse) My guess is that some ratio of toluene and turpentine mix might just be as good as or even better than gasoline. I know some people run on 80+% toluene but has difficulty in starting when cold It would be really interesting to see how it turns out

Toluene also makes for some great sniffing! It's been decades, but we used to sniff up gallons of toluene in Texas! Great stuff, and I always figured you'd be able to run an engine off it.
@cedriclynch
@cedriclynch Жыл бұрын
@@anselmofrias3330 I remember a motor sport tribunal in the UK hearing a case involving toluene. Someone had raced a car in a category where competitors had to use normal pump gasoline, and the scrutineers took a fuel sample and found it contained about 55% toluene, which has a higher octane rating than normal gasoline. It turned out that the specification of pump gasoline lists toluene as a permitted constituent and sets no minimum or maximum limit on what proportion it constitutes, although normally it is a very small proportion. The competitor was found not to have infringed the rules. I also remember a court case in which someone who was driving erratically on the road was found to have been sniffing the fumes from Evo-Stik, a popular adhesive that at that time used toluene as the solvent. He was charged with driving under the influence of a drug, and argued that Evo-Stik is not a drug. The court ruled that by inhaling the toluene vapor from the Evo-Stik in order to produce an effect resembling drunkenness he had used toluene as a drug, and found him guilty.

I always give you a thumbs up ! What you do here is great !!! My wife was wondering what the hell I was watching when I first found your channel. 1 minute of her watching and she could see why I watch all of your videos. The curiosity- tinkering and the mental exercises that I do every day with out of the box thinking, and you made a successful channel out of it :). Keep up the wonderful work my friend. PS. The water to clean out carbon deposits in an engine ( to help pass smog ). I’ve seen a friend do it years ago on my jeep - but does it really do the trick and what could the long term damage be if any ? I’m curious and now I hope you are too !
