For all those that question Robs contributions compared to Chris, this a prime example where he's proved you wrong by using his contacts and saved £2.5k on a replacement engine.

Thats what happens when you have a real old school mechanic on board, not taking anything away from Rob who sourced the opportunity and clearly makes it a team event, what a class act, good on you guys from a 70 year old, old school mechanic ex of Harritsham / Charing now retired to Canada, never miss a video.

You landed on your feet there. Last video I was despairing as I expected that you would need to buy a used engine for around £2500. What a lucky break with all your trade contacts. Regarding the oil and filter, I agree that it is prudent to warm up the engine and dump the oil and filter, it is badly needing a flush due to previous neglect.

Check the oil spec again as I believe the spec for that engine is now a 5w30 Stellantis FPW955535/03 changed from 0w20 in Jan 24. Your local factor has given you the wrong oil, given the problems with that engine I’d check this out.

Deb’s Jizer is actually a little bit older than Gunk. Deb being best known of course for swarfega is British, Gunk being an American in origin. Price of everything seems crazy these days Rob and also all degreasers ain’t what they used to be (same with paint stripper etc) due to legislation on chemicals obviously getting tighter and tighter over the past 20 years especially) Another great video, keep up the amazing work chaps 👍

Having helped by Dad either re-build or replace several engines when I was younger the smell of Gunk brings back many happy memories. I still use it today along with Jizer - not sure which is the better product or offer best value for money.
