fans on permanent and running rich is a sign of a fault with the chip, usually just have to remove the ecu, take the metal covers off and give the j3 terminals a really good clean, should solve the issue. however it would be way better to leave it without the chip or get it tuned properly with a aftermarket ecu or barra ecu

Fans on constantly is most likely a problem with the chip, not an intentional part of the tune. Remove it, clean the ECU terminals REALLY well, then clean them again! And try it again.

used to have to do that with computer daughter boards, which is basically what that is. the bus connectors oxidise. happens on aircraft as well. happens on any compter component which is push to conmnect/seat. Its why they sell connector spray at jatcar etc.... standard part of the tool kit was to have a laufer rubber/eraser to scrub terminals and bus connectors. There's nothing wrong with the J3's. they do the job

I think you can send the chips back to TI Performance to get "serviced", I guess they clean them up and check the tune on them.

he doesnt even know what stage chip he has, he is better off probably getting it reflashed after he tells them what his engine setup is. the prev owner might not have bought it originally either, so he has no idea what he hyas inherited. I had a J3 in one of my EF's and it was pretty good value. changed the driving dynamics of the car by a fair bit. wasa worth it IMO and they were v good to deal with.

@@efxr6538i certainly had better throttle response. I had them tuned first, replaced the plugs with iridiums and cleaned the throttle body/MAFsensor before I installed. Nothing but good things re change in driveability and responsiveness. Get the right stage chip as well or you just wont see the benefits.

That big a cam in a stock engine will run worse than stock, you need other supporting mods to hold a cam that big on a stock engine, 2-3 will work best on a standard internal engine
