The EF definitely needs a good cut and polish. Red is notoriously bad for fading. I had an EF Gli wagon with a factory 5 speed manual that had pretty bad fade until I gave it a cut and polish.

My brother in law owned one of those, back in about 2010ish, it was car and away the worst, worst, newer model car I ever drove. It was just bloody terrible. The gearstick was like a cock in a sock, the feedback from every component was just dead, it didn’t inspire you to want to drive it, I didn’t want to drive it, it was just an absolutely depressing, boring car to drive.
