In today's video we're testing out a few different myths regarding acids. How will the acids in Coke and pineapples affect meat? What about muriatic acid?

Fun fact: the enzyme in pineapple that breaks down meat also prevents gelatin from setting. Any jell-o that has pineapple in it uses canned pineapple because the canning process neutralizes the enzyme

When you said the raw meat looked cooked... it WAS cooked. "Cooking" just means denaturing the protein, whether it's by heat or by acid, or by some other way. That's why ceviche is said to be cooked purely by the acid of the citrus juices. Now I want some ceviche....

Is the pineapple’s enzyme the reason for that weird mouth feeling after eating it?
@tricitymorte1
@tricitymorte1 4 жыл бұрын
Naruto X Hinata yes. If your mouth feels tender or sore in spots, even tingly, that’s because of both naturally occurring acid and bromelain. I’ve had pineapple actually cause sores while eating it if the soil wasn’t right where it was grown.
